Dave Kapping
Senior Preparing to Play Final Game
|
By Nathan Martinson David Kapping is one of the veterans on a very veteran Falcon offensive line. In this his senior season, he's played center and guard. In 2004, he played four of the first five games at guard and the remainder of the season he was a backup offensive lineman. He also played center. "Dave has been a great team member and role model. He has played for us at a couple of offensive line positions. He has also been involved in other aspects of college life. He will be successful in life," Falcon Coach John O'Grady said. His teammates feel that Kapping has brought toughness and veteran leadership to the team that cannot be matched. After a dominating performance against Pacific Lutheran, the Falcon offensive line was named the Offensive Line of the Week by d3football.com. He helped the team rush for 506 yards and 560 yards of total offense. "The reason I came to play football for the Falcons was because it was close to home and it was one of the only public school teams that recruited me," Kapping said. One of Kapping's favorite football moments was when he was in his sophomore year and he got significant playing time against UW-Platteville. Kapping, 5-11 266 pounds, is one of the smaller offensive linemen, but uses his skills to get on the field and contribute to the team. He grew up in River Falls Wis., and played at River Falls High School. In his senior season he was named the team's captain. He also received all-state recognition in wrestling. "One of my favorite football moments from high school was when we won the Little Brown Jug from Hudson during my junior year," Kapping said. His high school coach was Bill Forester. He played on a few successful football teams during his years in high school. Kapping is majoring in health and human performance. He plans to uses his major to someday to either open a fitness center or a chiropractic office. He is the son of Sue and Roger. In his spare time he likes to play golf, Xbox and hang out with friends. The Falcons finish the year off against UW-Whitewater this Saturday (Nov. 12). Whitewater is undefeated but the Falcons feel they can stay in the game with no turnovers and play smart ball-controll football. Kapping hopes to finish off his senior season with a win. |
