Crandall Earns All-American Status at the NCAA Meet May 29, 2005 Jill Crandall (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) placed second in the heptathlon with with a score of 4894. Crandall is now a NCAA Div. III All-American in the heptathlon. Crandall also placed fifteenth in the high jump. Day one of the heptathlon, Crandall competed in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and the 200-meter dash. In the 100-meter hurldles Crandall placed third in 15.17 earning her 819 points. Crandall placed first in the high jump with a leap of 1.68 meters, earning her 830 points. In the shot put, Crandall placed tenth with a toss of 9.84 meters earning here 519 points. In the 200-meter dash Crandall placed fourth in 26.38. After day one Crandall was in first place with a score of 2932. Day two of the heptathlon, Crandall competed in the long jump, javelin
throw and the 800-meter dash. In the long jump, Crandall placed eleventh
with a leap of 5.05 meters earning her 573 points. In the javelin throw,
Crandall placed sixth with a toss of 33.15 meters, earning her 536 points.
Finishing strong Crandall placed first in the 800-meter dash in 2:17.84,
earning her 853 points and putting her in second place with an overall
score of 4894. Crandall had personal bests in every event but, the high
jump. By placing second, Crandall earned the honors of being a NCAA Div.
III All-American in the heptathlon. On Friday, Crandall competed in the high jump finals and placed fifteenth, with a leap of 1.60 meters. Crandall is now a three-time All-American at UWRF. In 2004 Crandall earned
All-American status in the high jump, in the indoor and the outdoor seasons.
In the outdoor meet, Crandall tied for second with a leap of 5-5 3/4 and

Crandall Competes at 2005 NCAA Qualifier Meet May 20, 2005 Falcon's Jill Crandall competed at the NCAA Qualifier Meet in La Crosse on Friday, May 20th. Crandall competed in the 100-meter hurdles, and finished with a time of 15.68. Crandall also competed in the javelin throw and placed third with a toss of 32.30 meters. The men's and women's Track and Field teams finished eighth at the WIAC meet May 7, 2005 The Falcon men's and women's track and field team finished eighth at the WIAC meet at UW-La Crosse on Saturday afternoon. For the women, leading the women was Jill Crandall who finished first in the heptathlon with a score of 4559 points. Crandall beat the WIAC record which was set at 4319 in 1981 by Sherri Odlevak of Superior. Crandall also had a NCAA provisional qualifying leap of 1.64 meters in the high jump. Brittany Smith placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.41. Smith also placed eighth in the triple jump, with a leap of10.88 meters. Vicki Cooper placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 12.00 meters. Taking the team title was UW-La Crosse 177, followed by UW-Oshkosh 162, UW-Stevens Point 120.50, UW-Eau Claire 97, UW-Stout 85.50, UW-Platteville 77, UW-Whitewater 71, UW-River Falls 37, and UW-Superior 31. For the men, Clint Christy placed fifth overall in the decathlon with a final score of 5731. In the 1500, Ben Kirmse placed seventh in 4:04.40. Mark Bookman placed tenth in the javelin throw with a toss of 45.60 meters. Taking the team title was UW-La Crosse 278, followed by UW-Whitewater 175, UW-Oshkosh 162.50, UW-Stevens Point 96, UW-Platteville 58.50, UW-Stout 36, UW-Eau Claire 25, UW-River Falls 18, and UW-Superior 9. The men's and women's Track and Field teams Compete at the WIAC Meet May 6, 2005 The Falcon men's and women's track and field team rank eighth after Friday nights WIAC meet at UW- La Crosse. For the women, Jill Crandall earned 2846 points after day one in the heptathlon. In the heptathlon, Crandall placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.57, first in the high jump with a leap of 1.69 meters, third in the shot put with a toss of 9.44 meters, and first in the 200 in 26.63. Amy Piersak placed fifteenth in the 200 in 26.55, but did not qualify for finals. Brittany Smith placed tenth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.04 but did not qualify for finals. Smith did qualify for finals in the 400-meter hurdles placing seventh in 1:07.41. In the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Amanda Kozicky placed sixth in 12:20.80. Holly Kromray placed seventh in the pole vault with a leap of 3.25 meters. Leading is UW-La Crosse with a point value of 67.50, followed by UW-Oshkosh 47.50, UW-Whitewater 31, UW-Stevens Point 31, UW-Stout 25.50, UW-Eau Claire 24, UW-Platteville 23, UW-River Falls 12.50, and UW-Superior 11. For the men, Clint Christy earned a score of 3126 in the decathlon after day one. Christy placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 11.87, second in the long jump with a leap of 6.54 meters, fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.48 meters, eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.69 meters, and fourth in the 400 in 52.77. In the 400, Mike Neurer placed tenth in 49.78, but did not make the finals. In the javelin throw, Mark Bookman placed tenth with a toss of 45.60 meters. Leading the teams after the first day is UW- La Crosse 85, followed by UW-Oshkosh 78.50, UW-Whitewater 33, UW-Stevens Point 32, UW-Platteville 25.50, UW-Stout 6, UW-Superior 5, UW-River Falls 4, and UW-Eau Claire 4. Track & Field Teams Ready For WIAC Meet May 3, 2005 Action starts at noon on Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the UW-La Crosse Veterans Memorial Stadium. La Crosse won last year's men's title for the 14th straight year. Oshkosh won the women's title last year. The Falcon men placed eighth and the women placed sixth last spring. 2004 Meet Results. Jill Crandall (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) has the second best point total in the heptathlon going into this weekend's meet, according to the WIAC Honor Roll. She scored 4,538 points at the Drake Relays on April 28. Crandall was named the WIAC's track Athlete of the Week on May 3. She has the ninth best javelin throw with a toss of 31.18-meters and she is tied for the third best high jump with a leap of 1.68-meters. Crandall has the fourth best 800-meter time (2:19) and the eighth best time in the 100-meter hurdles (15.66). Brittany Smith (Fr., Preston, Minn.) has the seventh best triple jump with a 11.03-meter effort. She has the 10th best 400-meter hurdle time of 1:09.21. Mandy Liesch (Fr., Kaukauna, Wis.) has the 10th best discus throw of 38.36-meters. Vicki Cooper (Fr., DeForest, Wis.) has the 10th best javelin throw with a 30.95-meter effort and the sixth best shot put with a toss of 12.47-meters. For the men, Clint Christy (So., Tomah, Wis.) has the fourth best point total in the decathlon with 5,799. He established that mark at the Drake Relays on April 28. Charlie Sowa (Fr., Rochester, Minn.) has the fourth best distance in the javelin with a toss of 49.5-meters. Crandall Named WIAC Track Athlete of the Week May 3, 2005 Falcon women's track & field athlete Jill Crandall (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) has been named the WIAC Track Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Drake Relays. Crandall provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championship in the heptathlon with 4,538 points at the Drake Relays. She was the only NCAA Div, III athlete to participate in the 20-person event. Crandalls point total ranks sixth in the NCAA Division III this year. |

Women's Track Team Places Sixth at Macalester Invitational April 30, 2005 Cooper won the discus with a toss of 36.47-meters. She also placed third in the javelin with a toss of 30.95-meters. Mackenzie Krakra placed fourth in the discus with a 35.13 -meter effort and Andrea Dudley was sixth with a 34.19-meter toss. In other field events, Kiah Sagami placed eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.49-meters. The Falcons took three of the top seven spots in the pole vault. Hannah Miller led the way with a third place finish with a height of 3.06-meters. Holly Kromray was fourth with the same height. Carrie VanHouten placed seventh with a leap of 2.76-meters. Sagami also placed fourth in the long jump with a 4.8-meter effort. Mandy Liesch placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.21-meters and Cooper was eighth with a toss of 10.6-meters. In the track events, Amy Piersak placed fifth in the 100 in 13.42 and fifth in the 200 in 27.17. Sara Rudesill placed sixth in the 800 in 2:24.31 and Marlene Yaeger was eighth in 2:26.23. Molly Larson finished 11th in the 1500 in 5:10.06. Brittany Smith placed fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:09.21 and Amanda Kozicky placed seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 12:20.8. The men's and women's teams will next compete in the WIAC Meet at UW-La Crosse on Friday and Saturday. Action starts at noon on Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday. |

In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Jeremy Olson placed third in 10:05.97. Rick Stewart placed fourth in the 400 in 50.54. In the 800, Kevin McDonough placed fifth in 1:59.37.Michael Zander placed fifth in the 200 in 23.03. In the javelin throw, Mark Bookman placed fifth with a toss of 42.63 meters. In the 10000, Maria Michaud placed eighth in 40:25.43. In the shot put, Vicki Cooper placed ninth in 11.96 meters. New comer Marlene Yaeger placed eleventh in the 800 in 2:24.93. Holly Kromray placed 15th in the pole vault with a leap of 3.05 meters. For the men, Kevin McDonough placed third in the 3000 meter Steeplechase in 9:51.17. Michael Zander placed fifth in the 400 in 50.53. Rick Stewart placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.56 meters. In the 1500, Ben Kirmse placed eighth in 4:08.50. Bobby Hanson placed eighth in the 10000 in 33:55.92. Taking the team title was Saint John's with 146.0 followed by Minnesota State Mankato 128.5, St. Thomas 108.3, UM-Duluth 101.3, St. Cloud State 71.0, Hamline 63.0, Gustavus 61.3, Macalester 46.0, UWRF 41.0, Carleton 39.0. Bethel 35.5, tying for 12th was Augsburg 26.0, Concordia St. Paul 26.0, St. Olaf 17.0, Northwestern College 15.0, and Saint Mary's 10.0. The men's track and field team will compete at Macalester Twilight on Wednesday, April 27. The women's track and field team will next compete at the La Crosse Classic with action beginning at noon. |

Track & Field Teams Host the Falcon Invitational April 9, 2005 For the men, Ben Kirmse placed first in the 1500 in 4:10.0. Placing first in the triple jump was Rick Stewart with a leap of 12.24 meters. Erik Olson placed second in the shot put with a toss of 13.34 meters, and fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.15 meters. Darrin Young placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.27, and fifth in the 400 in 59.54. Scott Reise placed fourth in the 800 in 2:03.50. Chuck Sowa placed fourth in the javelin throw with a toss of 49.50 meters. Cary Cardinal placed third in the high jump with a leap of 1.80 meters, and fifth in the 800 in 2:03.90. Track Teams Hosted Coca Cola Classic Feb. 12, 2005 The Falcon mens and womens track & field team hosted
the Coca Cola Classic. There were no team scores kept. For the men, Clint Christy took first place in the long jump with a leap
of 6.45m and took second in the high jump with a jump of 1.80m. Christy
also placed third in the 55 hurdles with a final score of 8.62. Ben Kirmse
took first place in the 1000 in 2:35.59. Jason Philippi took second in
the 1500 in 4:09.97. Mycola Kamper placed second in pole vault with a
personal best of 4.04m. Mike Neurer placed second in the 400 in 53.22.
Taking second in the 800 was Josh Kehrberg in 2:05.75. Mike Zander took
thrid in the 200 in 53:22. The Falcons will compete at Stout on Friday, Feb. 18. |

Track Teams Open 2005 Season Jan. 22, 2005 The Falcon men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened their season hosting the Early Bird Invitational Saturday at the Knowles Building. There were no team scores kept. For the men, Josh Kehrbert won the 600 in 1:30.9 and Jason Phillippi won the 1500 in 4:12.74. Darrin Young took the top spot in the 55 hurdles in 8.51. Clint Christy won the long jump with a leap of 20-11 3/4 and the triple jump with a leap of 41-1 3/4. For the women, Amy Piersak won the 200 in 27.84 and Amanda Kozicky won the 3,000 in 12:12.98. Jill Crandall won the 55 hurdles in 9.18 and Barbie Soine won the long jump with a leap of 15-1 1/2. Brittany Smith took the top spot in the triple jump with a leap of 33-8 3/4. Vicki Cooper won the shot with a toss of 38-4 and Gain Timmerman won the pole vault with a leap of 9-4 1/4. The Falcons will next compete on Saturday at the UW-Stout Open. Action starts at noon. |
