Megan Blakeley is in her final season as a Falcon and she plays third base. She played in 11 games for the Falcons in 2004. An aspiring elementary school counselor, she is looking forward to graduating in May. Blakeley was selected as a co-captain of the 2005 Falcons by her teammates and coaches. She was named to the 2004 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. In 2004 she was named an AFCA Scholar-Athlete. Blakeley is a psychology major with a criminal justice minor, and she plans to start graduate school in the fall to earn a master's degree in school counseling. In addition to her career goals, her softball goals include having fun with her teammates and to make the most out of her last season participating in competitive sports. She is the daughter of Rick and Sandee and has one sister, Erin. Blakeley says her "little brother" Sam, has been an influential and inspirational person in her life and has taught her about what is really important. Emily Evans is playing her senior and final season for the Falcons in 2004. She has played mostly third base for the Falcons, but she can also pitch and play first base. She played in 41 games in 2004 and hit .300. She led the Falcons with three home runs and had 17 RBIs. She had a .409 slugging percentage, the best for returning players. She earned honorable mention to the 2004 All-WIAC team. Evans was named the team's Player of the Week on May 3 and April 12. In 2003 she was named the team's Most Dedicated Player when she hit a career best .301. She is the daughter of Dale and Marie and has one brother, Bryan. Her cat's name is Hunter. Her hobbies include skate boarding, hockey, roller blading, camping, singing, coaching and hanging out with her family. She is majoring in health & human performance - physical education K-12. Her idols are her parents and Jesus Christ. Favorite quote: "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:13.

Emily Evans

Emily Rodgers

Richfield High School


Emily Rodgers is in her fourth and final season with the Falcons and plays outfield. She finished tied for second on the team in 2004 with a .321 batting average. She scored 19 runs and had 17 RBIs. She was second in hits with 42 and stole 10 bases. Rodgers was named the team's Most Dedicated Player in 2004. She was named the team's Player of the Week on March 8. She is also a member of the UWRF soccer team that won the WIAC title in 2003. Her personal goals are to be a positive leader and to show how you can work hard, and yet still have fun. She wants to be a consistent contributor to the team's success and make few mental and physical errors in both games and practice. Rodgers is majoring in social work. Her career goals include having a job in the field of social work, where she will be able to combine both her love of sports and kids. She coaches softball in her hometown, Richfield, Minn., and a 12U girls River Falls soccer team in the summer. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, coaching, and any sort of physical activities. She is the daughter of Christine and she has two older siblings, Sam and Liz. Emily Rodgers

Emily Stahl is in her final season as a Falcon. As a transfer from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, she will only be able to compete for three years at UW-River Falls. In 2004 she played in 15 games and finished with a .167 batting average. Stahl is a multi talented player who can play almost anywhere in the field. She was named the team's Co-Most Inspirational award winner in 2004 and she was the team's Most Improved Player in 2003. She is a business administration major with a Spanish minor, and will be graduating in May. She has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2003 and 2004. Stahl's goals for the season include having fun and going out in a blaze of glory. She attended Como Park High School in St. Paul, Minn., and represents it to the fullest. Her adoring family consists of her parents, Mike and Julie, and her wonderful older sister, Melanie. In the little free time she has she likes to get some sleep, work at the Gap once in a while, and hang out with her friends. In the future she hopes to grow up. Emily Stahl

Leah Vanderploeg is a senior and has played with the Falcons for the past three years. She has been pitching for UWRF since she was a freshman and has helped out the team by being a strong and enduring force throughout the past seasons. Vanderploeg was selected as a co-captain of the 2005 Falcons by her teammates and coaches. She earned honorable mention to the 2004 All-WIAC team. She was named the team's Pitcher of the Week four times (May 3, April 12, March 29 and March 22). She led the 2004 Falcons with a 2.44 ERA and finished with a 10-8 record. She threw six shutouts and led the Falcons with 140 1/3 innings pitched. She finished third in the WIAC in innings pitched and in strikeouts (113). Vanderploeg is majoring in biology (biomedical) with a chemistry minor. She is a member of the Biology Club. Her career goals are to graduate from UWRF then attended graduate school to pursue a career as a nurse anesthetist. Her most important role models are her parents, Ron and Lora. Carolyn Guisinger is in her third season with the Falcons and plays first base and catches. She finished the 2004 season with a .225 batting average and a .970 fielding average while playing first base. She had four doubles and eight RBIs. She's majoring in psychology with a Spanish minor. Her academic goal is to graduate from UWRF and attend graduate school where she can continue to study the field of psychology. Guisinger has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2003 and 2004. In 2003 she was named an AFCA Scholar-Athlete. In her first year at the University, she was involved in Habitat for Humanity and hopes to be part of it again next fall. During the summer of 2004, she coached a 16U fastpitch team for OMGAA. She is the daughter of Bob and Stephanie. Carolyn Guisinger

Jessamy Schwartz is in her third year as a Falcon and plays shortstop. She played in 34 games for the Falcons in 2004 and finished with a .302 batting average. She led the team with 24 RBIs and scored 18 runs. She stole 15 bases and was caught stealing only once. An excellent student, she has been named to the WAIC Scholastic Honor roll in 2003 and 2004 and was an AFCA Scholar-Athlete in 2003 and 2004. She was named the team's Best Defensive Player in 2004. She was named the team's Player of the Week on March 22. Her goals this season are to improve on every aspect of her game and to contribute to the team to help them play at their best. Schwartz is majoring in conservation with a minor in biology. She hopes to fill her head with as much knowledge it can take to help her become more diverse in her field of study. She someday hopes to be able to conduct research in the field and to make progress towards creating a better environment. When she's not playing softball, Schwartz enjoys being with friends and family, roller blading, snowboarding, and being up at the lake. She admires her family with all their support they have shown her and Jenny Bowman, a vollyeball player at the University of Minnesota for her energy and determination. Jamie Falck is in her second season with the Falcons. She appeared in 35 games for the Falcons in 2004 and had a .150 batting average. Her goals are to make a diving catch in the outfield and to give everything she has to her playing ability. She is majoring in meteorology and her career goals are to graduate and get a job she wants. She would like to be a storm chaser. The person she admires most is her sister, Molly. " Even though she is younger than me, she has been through more trials in her life and she has always stood on her own two feet no matter what people do or say to her. Michelle Heuser is in her second year with the Falcons and plays both in the outfield and catcher. She played in 37 games last year and finished with a .255 batting average. She had one double and seven RBIs. She stole three bases and had a .947 fielding percentage. She is working to become an elementary school teacher while she minors in early childhood and math. Heuser made the UWRF Dean's List last year and was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. In 2004 she was named an AFCA Scholar-Athlete. Hueser was named the team's Co-Most Inspirational award winner in 2004. She looks up to her Grandpa for his patience, knack to never complain, and ability of always looking at the positive things in life. She is the daughter of Don and Norine. Her team goals are to stay confident and be competitive in the conference. Kelley is majoring in elementary education with an early childhood minor. Her career goal is to teach kindergarten or first grade. She is the daughter of Mark and Maureen and has a sister, Melissa, and a brother, Michael. Michelle Kelley

Breamber Syverson is in her second year with the Falcons in 2005. Last year she played in 38 games and finished tied for second on the team with a .321 batting average. She had four RBIs and finished with 11 stolen bases. She led the team with 16 sacrifices. She was the team's designated hitter for most of the season. Syverson was named the team's Most Improved Player in 2004. She did start some at shortstop and hopes to be the starter at second base in 2005. Her role model is Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre. "He's a born leader who respects everything about the game, plus, if you’ve ever seen him play, that explains everything!" Margo Taylor is a returning sophomore for the Falcons this season and plays catcher. Taylor is a graduate from Forest Lake, Minn., High School and she is currently pursuing a major in both broadcast journalism and marketing communications, along with a minor in coaching. Her personal goals for the season are to become a better player overall and bring something new and positive to the team day in and day out. Outside of softball, her goal is to make a difference in others’ lives and to someday become a sports announcer or broadcaster. In 2004 she was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and was named an AFCA Scholar-Athlete. Her biggest role model is her Mom, Shelley; she has taught her so much in life. Her Mom is one of the hardest workers she knows and she is always there for both her and the rest of the family. Not only is her Mom her biggest role model, she is also her biggest fan. Besides playing softball, Taylor enjoys playing other sports, bike riding, swimming, and spending time with her friends and family. Margo Taylor

Ashley Bertrand is in her first year with the Falcons in 2005 and is a right-handed pitcher.
At Como Park, Minn., High School she was the team's captain in 2004, earned All-State honorable mention honors in 2004 and was named to the all-conference team in 2003 and 2004. The person she admires is the most is Jim Berbee. "He is my pitching coach and has taught me a lot about the game and also a lot of life lessons. One of the major things that he has taught me is to never give up and always give everything you do 100 percent!" She is the daughter of Mike and Wendy and has two brothers, Brent and Shawn. Her pet dog's name is Skipper. Bertrand is majoring in math. Her goals are to be successful and independent. She wants to find a job that makes her happy and to coach softball. Her on-campus activities include playing broomball and being involved in Smiles for Kids. Favorite quote: "Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Ashley James is in her first year with the Falcons in 2005 and plays catcher and third base. At Mankato, Minn., Loyola High School she was a four year letter winner. She was named to the All-State team twice and was a two time selection to the all-conference and all-section teams. She was her team's captain in 2004 and was a member of the team that won the 2001 Minnesota state championship. She played in the Minnesota All-Star series. James is an Academic All-State selection. She also earned two letters in basketball. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, reading, knitting, and watching movies. "The people I admire most are my parents because of their constant support." She is the daughter of Doug and Karen. She is majoring in finance. Her career goals is to open a state-of-the-art indoor batting and fielding facility for young girls to improve their softball abilities. Sonia Madlon is in her first year with the Falcons and plays catcher and in the outfield. Her team goals are to have a great season while having fun and bonding with the team at the same time. Her individual goal is to be as essential to the team as possible and have fun. She is the daughter of Anthony and Teresa and has two sisters and one brother. The people she admires most are her younger brother, Jon, and two teachers. "Jon has accomplished so much in just a few years. And my agriculture education teachers, Tiffany Timm and Beth Zuelke, for all they’ve taught me." She is majoring in agriculture education and is pursuing a minor in message therapy. Her career goals include graduating near the top of the class with honors and acquire a teaching position in a high school where she also can coach. Amanda Peters plays first base and is in her first year with the Falcons. At Pepin, Wis., High School she earned three softball letters and was named to the all-conference team for three seasons. She was her team's captain and won the team's Golden Glove award. She was a member of the senior All-Star game roster. Peters was named to the Red Wing Republican Eagle first All-Area team and to the all-district squad. She also earned three letters in basketball and two in volleyball. She was a captain of both of those teams. Her team goal is to work hard and have fun and her individual goals are to learn from the upper classmen and to work on her batting stance. Individuals who inspire her include her family, her high school coach, Mr. Haines, and God. She is the daughter of Dave and Maureen and she has two sisters. Brittany Rathbun is in her first year with the Falcons and is a right-handed pitcher. At Rochester, Minn., Mayo High School she was the softball captain for three seasons and the basketball team captain for two years. She was named to the all-conference team three years and to the all-section team twice. She earned All-State honorable mention honors in 2004. The person she admires most is Neil Woessner. "He was a great friend and coach of mine who passed away on Feb. 9, 2003. He had every quality it took to be the best in both coaching and in life. He had a way of getting the very best out of me and made me feel good about it! He will be missed. Also, both of my parents have witnessed both the rough and successful times that I have had. I am very fortunate to have parents like them!” She is the daughter of Rick and Sue and has one sister, Marissa. Amanda Wojnowiak plays second base and the outfield and is in her first year with the Falcons in 2005. Her team goal is to have an awesome season playing with a team that in the end gave it their all. Individuals who inspire her include God, and her family. "No matter what, they are always there for me to count on and keep me going." Her hobbies include anything active and outdoors - roller blading, wake-boarding, skiing, camping and basketball. She is majoring in biology (pre-physical therapy) with a minor in chemistry. Her career goals include graduating from UWRF and then attend graduate school in the University of Minnesota.
