2004-2005 UW-River Falls Preview
The Falcons had another outstanding season in 2004 advancing to the NCHA playoffs championship game and earning a berth into the NCAA National Championships.

But gone from that team are the top three scorers, and two other seniors who played important roles with the team.

The Falcon goaltending will be in excellent shape and that phase of the game may have to carry the team early in the season. Back are Andy Scanlon and Dan Meneghin. Scanlon was named the team's Most Valuable Player and earned All-NCHA and All-WIAC honorable mention honors after finishing with a 13-4-3 record, a 1.74 GAA and a .935 saves percentage. He was second in the NCAA Div. III in saves percentage. Meneghin played in 12 games and finished with an 8-2-1 record, a 2.03 GAA and a .915 saves percentage.

Four players return to the blue line led by senior Marc-Andre Lalande, who was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2004. Also back are Nate Hansen, Murphy Dwyer and Andy Jurek.

Aaron Degerness leads the list of returning forwards. He is the top returning scorer after going 9-12-21 last year. Tony Sikich (8-13-21), Josh Schlipp (11-8-19) and Steve Moe (9-7-16) are also back.

The strong, veteran returning unit will be joined by an exciting group of new recruits. The newcomers bring many games of top Junior A experience. They will develop and will be expected to step in and he contributors.

"This year's team should grow as we go and we will certainly be in the hunt," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman.
