Offense
Halfback John Peterlik (Sr., Cadott, Wis.) had his sixth 100 yard
plus rushing game of the season in the team's 24-22 win over UW-Stevens
Point Saturday at Ramer Field. The 5-7, 195 pounder carried the ball 24
times and gained 168 yards. He averaged seven yards a carry and scored
touchdowns on runs of 30 and two-yards in the second quarter. He also
completed 1-1 passes for 26 yards. The pass completion came late in the
game with the Falcons clinging to the two-point lead. The completion,
on a third-and-seven play from the UWRF 45, gave the Falcons a first down
at the UWSP 29 and helped the Falcons run more time off the clock. Peterlik
also completed a two-point conversion pass after the team's first touchdown
in the first quarter. Peterlik finished the year with 1,143 rushing yards
- it is the third time in his four-year career that he broke the 1,000
yard mark in a season.
Defense
Safety Kyle Hoegh (Sr., Byron, Minn.) came up with several big
plays in the team's 24-22 win over UW-Stevens Point Saturday at Ramer
Field. None was bigger than when he intercepted a pass and returned it
21 yards. With UWRF leading, 18-10 late in the third quarter, UWSP had
driven to the UWRF 33. On a second-and-seven play, the 6-0, 205 pounder
picked off a UWSP pass at the UWRF 10 to kill the drive and keep the Falcons
in the lead. The Falcons took over at the UWRF 31 and marched 69 yards
in four plays to score what proved to be the winning points late in the
third quarter. Hoegh had two assisted tackles and broke up another Pointer
pass.
Special Teams
: Josh Barney (Jr., Clear Lake, Wis.) made a big play on special
teams in UWRF's 24-22 win over UW-Stevens Point Saturday at Ramer Field.
The 5-11, 205 pounder blocked a UWSP punt, recovered the ball, and returned
it five yards to the UWSP 30 to give the Falcon offense excellent field
position. The Falcons capitalized on the play by kicking a 26-yard field
goal to give the Falcons an 11-7 lead late in the first half.
