Jeff Berkhof has been named the WIAC women's golf Coach of the Year for 2004.

Berkhof helped lead a relatively new Falcon program to a third place finish in the WIAC Meet held Oct. 9-10 at the Stevens Point Country Club. The Falcons held a one-stroke lead after the first day of competition shooting a team total of 346. The Falcons shot a 347 on the second day. Falcon Ellen Berndt placed second overall with a two-day total of 162, two strokes from first place.

This is the third season of varsity golf at UWRF. Berkhof has been the coach since the team's start in 2002. The Falcons placed sixth in the 2002 and 2003 WIAC Meets.

Berkhof is also an assistant men's basketball coach at UWRF, a position he's held for 10 seasons. He helped lead the 2004 basketball team to the WIAC regular season championship.
