Ambers Has Golfing In Her Blood

Casey Ambers has golfing in her blood.
Her entire family golfs, including her sister, Kelli, and her father,
Dave, who is the head girl's golf coach at North Branch, Minn., High School.
Ambers started golfing when she was only eight years old, due mostly because
her family lived right next to a golf course. "I grew up playing
golf," Ambers commented, when describing how she first got into golf.
She also played tennis in high school and roller bladed in her spare time,
but she likes golf the most. Ambers never thought that she would play
a college sport, but took a chance and joined the very first UW-River
Falls women's golf team.
She started playing for the Falcons during her junior year. She was excited
when she found out that the school was going to offer a women's team.
"It was the only thing that the school didn't offer that I
wanted to play."
She decided to attend UW-RF because it was far from home, yet close enough
so that she can go home if she needs. But she came to UW-RF mostly because
her sister, Kelli, attended the University.
What she enjoys most about golf is that it is an individual sport, yet
a Person competes with a team. "When someone isn't doing well, the
team will step up and help out." So far she thinks that the season
is going great. "The team shows up to compete; we are more competitive
and are more prepared for our matches."
Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof commented that, "Casey has had a very good
season thus far. Her consistent ball striking is one of the reasons we
have improved as a team." "Casey's competitive nature, which
has a positive affect on the other players, is a key attribute that will
be missed next year," said Berkhof when describing the senior and
her talents and skills.
