Falcon women's basketball players Erin Effle (Sr., Rochester, Minn. John Marshall HS), Traci Reimann (So., North Branch, Minn.) and Chantele Melgaard (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) have all been named to 2005 All-WIAC basketball teams. Effle, a post player, was named to the first All-WIAC team. Reimann, also a post player, earned All-WIAC honorable mention. Melgaard, a guard, was named to the All-Defensive unit. Effle, who was named to the 2004 All-WIAC first team and earned honorable mention to the 2002 and 2003 teams, had four great seasons for the Falcons. She is the first Falcon to be named to an All-WIAC team in all four years of competition. This year she led the team in scoring (13.2) and rebounding (6.9). She started all 21 games she played in and shot 115-231 from the field (.498), tops on the team. She was 3-11 from three-point range (.273) and 45-70 (.643) from the line. She had 31 assists, 20 blocks and 50 steals. She was second on the team in blocks, third in steals and fourth in assists. Effle averaged 25.7 minutes of playing time a game. She scored a career-high 29 points in a 75-68 win at UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 15. Her high rebounds game was 12 in a Jan. 25 loss (69-65) to UW-Stout. She had four double-doubles during the season. Effle finished sixth in scoring and rebounding in the WIAC. She was fifth in the WIAC in field goal shooting and blocked shots. She was named the team's Player of the Week five times during the 2004-05 season and was named the WIAC Player of the Week on Feb. 21. She was one of the team's captains in 2005 and 2004. Effle finished her career averaging 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. She scored 1,181 points and grabbed 613 rebounds. She led the Falcons in scoring in 2003 and 2004 and led the team in rebounding in 2002 and 2003. Reimann had a second strong year for the Falcons. She finished second
in scoring (10.4) and rebounding (6.1) in 2005. She played in all 25 games,
starting in 21. She shot 95-202 (.470) from the field, including 16-41
(.390) from three-point range. She was 55-72 (.764) from the line. Her
55 free throws made was a team high. She had 28 assists, 10 blocks and
25 steals and averaged 27.1 minutes of playing time a game. She scored
a career-high 28 points in a 69-58 win at UW-Platteville on Jan. 15. She
had a season-high 13 rebounds in a 61-55 win at St. Scholastica on Jan.
2. Reimann had two double-doubles during the season. She was named the
team's Player of the Week on Nov. 22 and Jan. 17. Reimann finished seventh
in the WIAC in field goal shooting. |
