Brune, Petersen, Tvrdik Named to All-WIAC Volleyball Team

Falcon volleyball players Krystle Brune (Sr., Oakdale, Minn.), Nina Petersen (Jr., Byron, Minn.) and Melissa Tvrdik (Sr., Farwell, Minn.) have all been named to the 2003 first All-WIAC team.

Brune, an outside hitter, has been named to the first team for three straight years. Petersen, also an outside hiiter, was given honorable mention to the 2002 All-WIAC team. Tvrdik, a middle hitter, was named to the first team in 2002 and was given honorable mention to the 2001 team.

Brune finished with 480 kills, tops on the team. She had a .249 hitting percentage. She had 128 digs and 65 total blocks.

Petersen finished with 379 kills, third on the team. She had a .238 hitting percentage. She had 114 digs and 102 blocked shots, third on the team.

Tvrdik led the team with a .358 hitting percentage and finished with 457 kills, second on the team. She led the Falcons with 50 aces and with 131 total blocks. She finished with 191 digs.

UW-RF finished the regular season with a 34-5 overall record. The Falcons tied for first in the WIAC regular season standings with a 7-1 record. It was the second year in a row that the Falcons have tied for the No. 1 spot in the WIAC. The Falcons have earned an at large berth into the NCAA Div. III National playoffs.
