Brune, Tvrdik, Petersen Named to All-Region Teams

Falcon volleyball players Krystle Brune (Sr., Oakdale, Minn.) and Melissa Tvrdik (Sr., Farwell, Minn.) have both been named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region team and Nina Petersen (Jr., Byron, Minn.) earned honorable mention to the squad.

Earlier this year all three were named to the first All-WIAC team. Tvrdik was also named the WIAC Player of the Year and the sport's Scholar-Athlete. Tvrdik was named to the 2002 AVCA All-Midwest team and was later named to the second AVCA All-American team.

Brune finished with 480 kills, tops on the team. She had a .249 hitting percentage. She had 128 digs and 65 total blocks.

Tvrdik led the team with a .358 hitting percentage and finished with 457 kills, second on the team. She led the Falcons with 50 aces and with 131 total blocks. She finished with 191 digs.

Petersen finished with 379 kills, third on the team. She had a .238 hitting percentage. She had 114 digs and 102 blocked shots, third on the team.

UW-RF finished the regular season with a 35-6 overall record. The Falcons tied for first in the WIAC regular season standings with a 7-1 record. It was the second year in a row that the Falcons have tied for the No. 1 spot in the WIAC.
