Dura Competes in Shot at NCAA Meet May 29, 2004 Steph Dura competed in the shot put on Saturday in the third and final day of the NCAA Div. III Championships being held at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. Dura threw the shot 43-1 1/2, but failed to qualify for the finals. She had the 15th best throw entering the event with a toss of 43-2 1/4. Dura also participated in the National Indoor Meet in March, but did not qualify for the finals. On Friday Jill Crandall had another great day when she earned All-American honors for the second time this year. Crandall finished in a tie for second place in the high jump with a leap of 5-5 3/4. She earned NCAA All-American honors for her effort. She tied with three other jumpers and the winning leap of 5-9 1/4. She had the nation's eighth best jump going into the meet - 5-6. She placed fifth in the NCAA Indoor Meet in the same event with a leap of 5-5 1/4 and earned All-American recognition. Jen Leis competed in the discus event and had a throw of 131-9, but she did not qualify for the finals. On Thursday Leis competed in the hammer throw and had a best toss of 148-feet. She did not qualify for the finals. She qualified for the nationals with a best throw of 145-9 in the hammer and a best throw of 145-9 in the discus. Leis earned All-American honors at last year's outdoor meet in the discus, and last March she earned All-American honors in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She finished with a toss of 52-feet. Also on Thursday Shannon Zweifel ran a 1:03.95 in the trials of the 400 hurdles. Her time was not fast enough to qualify her for Saturday's finals. She had qualified for a 1:02.93 time which is a Falcon record. Gina Anderson did not register a height in the pole vault event. She had the 15th best jump entering the meet with a leap of 11-0 3/4. The jump of 11-0 3/4 is a school record. The Falcons placed 39th overall with 5.8 points. Seventy-six teams competed. UW-Oshkosh won the women's team title (57 points) and UW-La Crosse won the men's team title (101 points). Five Falcons Qualify for NCAA Track & Field Meet May 24, 2004 Five members of the Falcon women's track & field teams have qualified for the NCAA Div. If Zweifel qualifies for the finals she will race again at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday.
Five Falcons Compete at La Crosse May 21, 2004 Five members of the Falcon men's and women's track & field teams competed in a NCAA Qualifying meet at La Crosse on Friday. The Falcons were trying to improve qualifying times and distances for the NCAA Div. III meet. No team scores were kept. The final fields for the National Meet will be announced on Monday. The
meet will be at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., May 27-29.

to the St. Olaf NCAA Qualifier Men's Results Falcon Women Place 6th, Men 8th at WIAC Meet; May 8, 2004 Jill Crandall led the Falcon track & field teams at the WIAC Meet with a first place finish in the high jump on Saturday at UW-Eau Claire. The women placed sixth with 59 points and the men finished eighth with 18.5 points. The women were just two points out of fifth place. Crandall led the women with a first place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5-5 3/4. She won first by two inches over the second place finisher. Two Falcons placed third - Jen Leis in the discus with a toss of 145-9 and Shannon Zweifel in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.61. Also in the discus Haylee Hall placed seventh with a throw of 138-5 and Steph Dura was eighth with a toss of 136-10. The Falcons had two fourth place finishes - Dura threw the shot 45-5 3/4 and Crandall ran a 58.62 in the 400 hurdles. Leis placed eighth in the shot with a toss of 39-10 1/2. Tiff Reber finished seventh in the 100 hurdles in 16.19 and Marian Christen placed 13th in the 1500 in 4:55.08. In the triple jump Sydney Hall placed 17th with a leap of 32-9 1/2 and Jodi Ewert was 19th with a leap of 31-1 3/4. For the men, Lance Wiersma placed seventh in the high jump with a leap
of 6-2 3/4. Clint Christy finished 12th and Dean Harder 13th in the event
with leaps of 6-0 3/4. Ben Kirmse placed 16th int he 1500 in 4:02.53 and
Erik Olson was 20th in the discus with a throw of 127-4. In the triple
jump Christy was 17th with a leap of 43-3 and Rick Stewart was 19th with
a leap of 41-4 1/2. Cary Cardinal competed in the two-day decathalon and
placed 12th with 4,756 points.
Go to the WIAC Outdoor Meet Track Teams Compete in First Day at WIAC Meet; Anderson, Bronson Each Place Second in Specialties May 7, 2004 The Falcon women's and men's track & field teams competed in the first day of the WIAC Meet being held at UW-Eau Claire on Friday. There were seven events that held trials and finals on Friday. Gina Anderson
placed second in the pole vault with a leap of 3.47-meters. Holly Kromray
finished just out of scoring playing ninth with a leap of 3.17-meters.
Joy Hemmesch placed 13th with a leap of 3.02-meters. In the hammer, Jen
Leis placed seventh with a toss of 48.97-meters. Haylee Hall had a best
throw of 39.59-meters and she placed 16th. Anderson placed 22nd in the
javelin with a toss of 26.95-meters. In trials for the women, Jill Crandall
qualified for the finals of the 400 with a time of 58.18. It was the second
fastest qualifying time. In the 100 meter hurdle trials Tiff Reber qualified
for Saturday's finals with a time of 16.07. Shannon Zweifel had the fastest
qualifying time in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.04. Nine runners qualified
for the finals. For the men, Bronson Stelzer led the way with a second place finish in
the javelin with a toss of 55.35-meters. The winning throw was just six
inches longer. Justin Schuh placed 16th in the event with a toss of 38.32-meters
and Brandon Berry finished 17th with a 37.79-meter effort. Jeremy Olson
placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:45.27. Kevin McDonough
placed 14th in the race in 10:05.16, Eric Nordgren finished 17th in 10:23.12,
Mark Hartwig was 19th in 10:25.43 and Matt Olson was 21st in 10:31.69.
The Falcon 4x800 relay team finished fourth in 7:56.64 5.

Track Teams Compete at WIAC Qualifier April 30, 2004 The Falcon women's and men's track & field teams competed in the WIAC Qualifier held Friday in La Crosse. Shannon Zweifel led the Falcon women with a first place finish in the
400 hurdles in 63.99. Jill Crandall jumped 5-3 1/4 int he high jump and
placed second. Gina Anderson jumped 10-11 3/4 in the pole vault and placed
fourth. Jen Leis threw the hammer 150-8 and placed seventh. Leis', Crandall's
and Anderson's efforts were all NCAA Div. III meet provisional qualifying
marks. There were no team scores kept.

hurdles in 64.58. Jill Crandall finished second in the high jump with
a leap of 1.62-meters. Three Falcons placed third in their events. Katie
Mitchell finished in 27.23 in the 200, Steph Dura had a shot put off 12.97-meters
and Ken Leis had a hammer throw of 46.61-meters and a throw of 40.04-meters
in the discus. Leis also placed fourth in the shot with a toss of 11.88-meters
and Haylee Hall placed fourth in the discus with an effort of 39.72-meters.

and Holly Kromray tied for fifth place in the pole vault with leaps of

Falcons Compete at Krough Invitational April 9, 2004 The Falcon men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Lee Krough Invitational held at Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday afternoon. There were no teams scores kept. For the men, Clint Christy placed second in the long jump with a leap of 20-10 3/4 and second in the triple jump with a 41-5 3/4 effort. Jeremy Olson placed third in the steeplechase in 10:03.7 and Mike Zander placed fifth in the 400 in 50.6. Rick Stewart placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 40-feet. For the women, Jen Leis won the hammer throw with a toss of 156-8 and she placed third in the discus with a throw of 140-3. She has now qualified for the NCAA Div. III outdoor championships in both events. Jill Crandall won the high jump event with a leap of 5-6 and has also qualified for the NCAA meet with that effort. She also placed second in the 400 in 59.21.Tiff Reber placed fifth in the 100 hurdles in 16.59. Shannon Zweifel placed second in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.43. Steph Dura placed second in the shot put with a toss of 40-3 1/2. Haylee Hall placed fourth and Dura fifth in the discus with throws of 134-6 and 134-4 respectively. Falcons Compete at Norse Invitational April 3, 2004 The Falcon men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Norse Invitaitonal Saturday afternoon in Decorah, Iowa. Both teams finished fifth in the final team standings. In the men's meet La Crosse won the team title with 128 points followed by Eau Claire 127, Luther 120, St. Olaf 112, River Falls 88, Wartburg 76, Upper Iowa 17, North Central, 15, St. Mary's, 13 and MSU-Mankato 10. In the women's meet, Luther placed first with 198.5 points followed by St. Benedict 156.5, Eau Claire 119, Wartburg 108, River Falls 90.5, Upper Iowa 17, North Central 10 and St. Mary's 9. Erik Olson led the Falcon men with a third place finish in the discus with a toss of 144-10. Greg Greene placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20-6 1/2 and Nick Nelson was fifth with a leap of 20-5 1/2. Justin Shuh finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 131-2. For the women, Jen Leis won the hammer throw with a toss of 145-5, Shannon
Zweifel won the 400 hurdles in 66.06 and Jill Crandall won the high jump
with a leap of 5-2. Leis also placed third in the shot with a toss of
41-2 1/2. Steph Dura placed second in the shot with a toss of 42-11 1/2
which is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Dura also placed fourth in
the discus with a 127-9 effort. Tiff Reber placed third in the 100 hurdles
in 17.16.

III National Track & Field Meet being held Friday at UW-Whitewater on Friday. The Falcons finished with five points and tied for 33rd place. On Friday, Crandall placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5-5 1/4. Leis placed eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 52-feet. The winning high jump with 5-7 1/4 and the winning weight throw distance was 60-3 3/4, a NCAA record. Crandall ran a 59.45 in the 400 preliminaries, but did not qualify for Saturday's finals. Dura, Leis, Crandall Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships March 9, 2004 Steph Dura, Jen Leis and Jill Crandall all qualified for the NCAA Div. III women's indoor track & field championships to be help this weekend at UW-Whitewater. Crandall qualified in both the 400 meters and high jump. There are 14 entrants in the high jump she has a best leap of 5-6. She qualified in the 400 with a time of 58.64 and there are 16 entrants in that race. Dura qualified in the shot put with a toss of 45-2 1/4. There are 14 entrants. Leis qualified in the weight throw with a toss of 52-1 1/4 and there are 14 entrants in that event. The high jump and weight throw trials and finals competitions are scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The 400 preliminaries will start at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Jen Leis placed sixth in the shot put with a 42-8 3/4 effort and Kiah Sagami placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16-6 1/2. The Falcon distance medley relay team placed sixth in 12:45.36. Oshkosh holds down first place with 33 points followed by Stevens Point 33, River Falls 29, La Crosse 28, Platteville 24, Eau Claire 22, Stout 20, Whitewater 6 and Superior 0. For the men, Wees Kennedy qualfied for Saturday's finals in the 55 and 200 dash events. He ran a 6.6 55 and a 22.82 200. Mike Zander, who ran a 51.13, qualified for the 400 finals on Saturday. La Crosse is in first palce with 54.5 points followed by Whitewater 54, Stevens Point 27, Oshkosh 24, Eau Claire 16, Platteville 10.5, Stout 6, River Falls 3 and Superior 0. Wees Kennedy placed second in the 55 in 6.48, Jason Quarford placed second in the 5,000 in 16:04.28 and Clint Christy was second in the long jump with a leap of 21-7 1/4. Mike Zander placed fourth in the 400 in 51.06, Lance Wiersma was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6-2 and Gregg Greene was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20-7 1/4. Scott Reise placed fifth in the 800 in 2:02.35 and Erik Olson was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 44 2 3/4. There were no team scores kept. The Falcon men's and women's teams will compete in the WIAC Championships Friday and Saturday at UW-Stout. Falcons Compete at Blue Devil Open Feb. 20, 2004 The Falcon men's track & field team placed third and the women placed fourth at the Blue Devil Open held Friday night in Menomonie. For the men, Wees Kennedy won the 200 in 22.87 and Mike Zander placed fourth in the 400 in 51.57. Cary Cardinal placed second in the 1500 in 4:13.98 and Jason Quarford placed fourth in the 3000 in 9:21.88. Jim Felling took home a second place finish in the 5000 in 16:59.09 and Bobby Hanson was third in 17:03.05. The Falcons dominated the high jump winning the top three places. Dean Hardeer was first, 6-0 3/4, Andy Poterucha was second, 6-0 3/4 and Lance Wiersma was third, 5-10 3/4. UWRF did nearly as well in the long jump winning second through fourth places. Clint Christy was second, 20-9 3/4, Gregg Green was third, 19-11 1/5 and Poterucha was fourth, 19-7 1/2. For the women, Amy Schultz placed third in the 800 in 2:28.71. Amanda Kosicky placed third in the 1500 in 5:01.26 and Marian Christen was fourth in 5:03.25. Angie Kveene placed fourth in the 5000 in 19:31.95. The Falcons did very well in the field events. Kiah Sagami won the long jump with a leap of 16-1 1/2 and Steph Dura won the shot put with a toss of 45-2 1/4. Falcon Men 2nd, Women 4th in Coca Cola Classic Feb. 14, 2004 The Falcon men placed second and the women were fourth at the Coca Cola Classic held Saturday afternoon at the Knowles Building. In the men's meet St. Cloud won with 197 followed by River Falls 115, Bethel 110, Augsburg 88, Minnesota 81, Superior 34, Northwestern 23, St. Mary's 13 and North Central 13. In the women's meet Winona won with 193, followed by St. Benedict 117.3, St. Cloud 108.3, River Falls 100, Augsburg 55, St. Mary's 51.5, Bethel 29.5, Superior 20.3, St. Catherine 14, Northwestern 6 and North Central 4. For the men, Michael Zander placed fifth in the 400 in 51.84. Andy Poterucha placed fifth in the high jump with a 6-0 effort. For the women, Stephanie Dura won the shot put with a toss of 44-11. Jill Crandall also placed first in the high jump with a leap of 5-6, a NCAA provisional qualifying leap. Competition starts at 4 p.m. Falcons Compete at MSU-Mankato Feb. 7, 2004 The Falcon men's and women's indoor track & field teams participated in the MSU-Mankato Open held Saturday. For the women, Steph Dura placed second in the shot put with a toss of 43-3 3/4 and Jen Leis finished second in the weight throw with a 50-4 3/4 effort. Both efforts were NCAA provisional qualifying marks. Jill Crandall tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 5-4 1/2. Falcons Compete at St. Cloud Invitational Jan. 31, 2004 The Falcon men's and women's indoor track & field teams performed well at the St. Cloud Invitational held Saturday. For the women, Steph Dura won the shot put with a toss of 42-8 3/4. She also placed fourth in the weight throw with a 43-11 1/2 effort. Jen Leis placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 51-4 1/2 and she placed fourth in the shot with 37-7 3/4 effort. Jill Crandall placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5-2 1/2. The Falcons will next compete at MSU-Mankato on Saturday with competition starting at 9 a.m. Falcons Compete at Blugold Open Jan. 23, 2004 The Falcon men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened their seasons at the Blugold Open at UW-Eau Claire Friday night. The men placed third of seven teams with 107.5 points and the women placed fifth of seven teams with 67 points. For the women, Jen Leis, Gina Anderson and Jill Crandall each placed second in their events to lead the Falcons. Leis placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.02-meters. Anderson placed second in the pole vault with a leap of 3.11-meters. Crandall placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.66-meters. Tiff Reber placed third in the 55 dash in 7.66. For the men, Andy Poterucha won the high jump with a leap of 1.88-meters and he placed second in the 55 hurdles in 8.44. Dean Harder placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.78-meters.
