Meet the Falcons

Logan Baker
5-2, Junior, Oakdale, Minn.
North St. Paul High School

Logan Baker returns to UW-RF after a year at the University of Minnesota for class work. A consolation finalist in her first year with the Falcons, she will add depth to the freestyle events.

5-5, Freshman, Maplewood, Minn.
North St. Paul High School

Katie Bild will add to the Falcons strength in the breaststroke events and should see major improvement in the IM.

Amy Bowe
5-2, Senior, Austin, Minn.
Austin High School

Amy Bowe enters the season as the only senior woman on the team. She can always be counted on to swim the tough events such as the 200 fly and the 400 IM.

Rachel Clark
5-3, Sophomore, Rochester, Minn.
John Marshall High School

Rachel Clark comes to UWRF as a transfer from the University of North Dakota. Her times in the fly and IM events are near several team records. She should be a major contributor to the Falcon scoring at the WIAC Championships.

5-9, Sophomore, Savage, Minn.
Burnsville High School

Ashley Crunstedt was a conference consolation finalist in her freshman year and looks to push her way into the finals this year in the backstroke and butterfly events.

Kelly Deters
6-0, Junior, Sauk Rapids, Minn.
Sauk Rapids-Rice High School

Kelly Deters is the sprint freestyler on this year’s team and also swims the butterfly on the 200-medley relay team. Winner of the consolation heat in the 50 free at the WIAC Championships last year, she looks to move into the finals this season.

5-5, Freshman, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
Lincoln High School

Jen Hiti swims the distance events and should be a threat to score in the 1,650 event at the WIAC Championships.

5-6, Freshman, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
Rosemount High School

Emily Johnston should prove to be one of the most versatile members of this year’s team. She is primarily a freestyler, but can swim a solid IM also.

5-6, Freshman, St. Paul Park, Minn.
Park High School

Ali Miesen will contribute in the breaststroke and distance freestyle events. She is a hard worker and will add to the team in many ways.

5-8, Junior, Oakdale, Minn.
North St. Paul High School

Abby Olson scored points at the 2003 WIAC Championships in the 200 back and looks to reach the finals this year. She also swims the IM and will ad to the depth of this year’s team.

5-6, Junior, Ripon, Wis.
Ripon High School

Laura Schultz is another versatile swimmer who was a major contributor to last year’s team in the IM, freestyle and relay events. She is a tenacious competitor and should score in several events at the WIAC Championships.

5-5, Freshman, Chippewa Falls, Wis.
Chippewa Falls High School

Katrina Siverling likes the tough events and is a versatile swimmer. She will likely contribute in the IM and freestyle events.

5-3, Freshman, Madison, Wis.
LaFollette High School

Steph Smart comes in as the lone diver on this year’s team. Early season injuries have slowed her progress but she is a dedicated athlete and should rebound to add to the team’s efforts.

5-3, Freshman, Falcon Heights, Minn.
Roseville High School

Kate Talbot has shown that she is a competitor in early season training and should provide depth to the Falcons in the distance events.

Lucy Williams
5-8, Sophomore, Hinkley, Minn.
Hinkley-Finlayson High School

Lucy Williams is the classic example of hard work and dedication paying off. Prior to last year she had never competed in swimming, having been a multi-sport athlete in high school. A captain this year, she adds depth to the freestyle sprint events.

Chad Goetsch
6-1, Junior, Plymouth, Wis.
Plymouth High School

Chad Goetsch has progressed in major steps into his junior year. He swims the distance freestyle and 200 butterfly events. A finalist in last year’s WIAC Championships, he hopes to move into the top three in the 1,650 free.

6-2, Junior, Little Canada, Minn.
Roseville High School

Ryan Hawke is a versatile swimmer who primarily swims the IM and backstroke events. He scored in both events at last year’s WIAC Championships.

Jon Jarvis
6-4, Senior, Hastings, Minn.
Hastings High School

Jon Jarvis concentrated on the IM events last year and it paid off as he reached the final heat in the 400 IM at the WIAC Championships. He is the team captain this year. He is a versatile swimmer and was a member of two record-setting relay teams last year.

5-8, Sophomore, Green Bay, Wis.
Pulaski High School

Dan Kessenich also runs for the Falcons cross country team. He had a fantastic WIAC Championship meet last year swimming the fly and backstroke events.

Kyle Palmer
6-0, Freshman, North Mankato, Minn.
Mankato West High School

Kyle Palmer comes in this year as the designated breaststroke specialist. His times indicate that he should push to the finals at the WIAC Championships in both breaststroke events and the IM.

5-10, Sophomore, White Bear Lake, Minn.
White Bear Lake High School

Ryan Smaagard should prove to be a threat to score at the WIAC Championships in any event he chooses. He was in the finals of the 50 free event at last year’s meet and was a member of two relay teams that set school records.

Brandon VanVleet
5-11, Senior, Grandy, Minn.
Cambridge-Isanti High School

Brandon VanVleet holds the school records in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events. He can contribute in just about any event he swims and was a WIAC Championship finalist in all three short freestyle events last year. He was a member of two relay teams that set school records.
