Falcon soccer players Sarah Carlson (So., Plymouth, Minn. Armstrong HS), Apryl Jennrich (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Centennial HS) and Ashley Peterson (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Forest Lake HS) have all been named to the 2003 All-WIAC team. Falcon Coach Sean McKuras was named the 2003 WIAC soccer Coach of the Year - the second time in as many years he has won the award. Carlson is a forward, Jennrich a goalie and Peterson a defender. Carlson led the Falcons in scoring in 2003 with a team high 16 goals and 38 points. She scored eight game winning goals. The 38 points is sixth and the 16 goals is fifth in the Falcon records book for points and goals in a season. Jennrich played all but 143 minutes in goal for the Falcons in 2003. She finished with a .84 goals against average and a .889 saves percentage. She had a 17-3-0 record and recorded 9.5 shutouts. Her 9.5 shutouts is first, her .84 goals against average is second and her .889 saves percentage is third in the Falcon records book in a season. Peterson finished tied second on the team in scoring with seven goals and 20 points. The seven goals was second on the team. An outstanding defender, she also played up front in several situations to give the Falcons additional offensive presure. McKuras, in his second year as head coach of the Falcons, has led the team to a 30-9-2 record in the past two seasons. The Falcons finished 13-5-2 and in third place in the WIAC in 2002 when he was named the WIAC's Coach of the Year. The Falcons finished 17-4 overall and won the 2003 WIAC Championship
with a 6-2 record. The Falcons lost to UW-Stevens Point, 2-1 in double
overtime, in the WIAC Tournament. The 17 wins is a school record. |
