Offense: Forward Katie Rooney (So., Stillwater, Minn. Hill-Murray
HS) played her best game of the season in the WIAC Tournament held
last weekend at UWRF. She scored the only goal in the team's 1-0 win over
UW-Oshkosh on Friday in the semifinals. That win put the Falcons in the
finals against UW-Stevens Point. In the championship match against the
Pointers, Rooney scored the first goal of the game which gave the Falcons
a 1-0 lead at the time. The Falcons lost to the Pointers, 2-1, in two
overtimes. She finished the year with five goals.
Defense: Goalie Apryl Jennrich (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Centennial
HS) was the best player on the field in the WIAC Tournemant played
at UW-River Falls last weekend. In the team's win over UW-Oshkosh she
made 13 saves in recording her ninth shutout of the season. In the team's
2-1 overtime loss to UW-Stevens Point, she stopped 20 shots.
Nov. 3, 2003
Offense: Forward Sarah Carlson (So., Plymouth, Minn., Armstrong
HS) scored two goals, including the game winner, to help lead the
Falcons to a 3-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan Sunday afternoon at Ramer
Field. She leads the team with 16 goals entering this weekend's WIAC tournament
that UWRF will host. "Sarah came through to score two big goals for
us," Coach Sean McKuras said.
Defense: Defender Kelly Sapan (Fr., Rochester, Minn., Century
HS) played a key role for the Falcons in the team's 3-1 win over Nebraska
Wesleyan Sundayy afternoon at Ramer Field. "Kelly was under pressure
from some talented forwards from Wesleyan. She did a great job in shutting
them down," Coach Sean McKuras said.
Oct. 27, 2003
Offense: Forward Sarah Carlson (So., Plymouth, Minn. Armstrong
HS) played an important offensive role for the Falcons in the team's
three wins last week. Two of the wins came in WIAC play. In the team's
4-1 win over Whitewater, Carlson scored two goals, including the game
winner. She scored the team's second and fourth goals. Carlson leads the
team with 14 goals and 32 points.
Defense: Defender Jessie Olsen (So., Elk River, Minn.) helped
the Falcons win all three games they played last week, including two in
WIAC action. Against Stout, she scored the team's second goal on a penalty
kick in a 2-0 Falcon win. In a 4-1 win over Whitewater, she scored the
team's third goal of the game. The goals were her first two of the season.
Oct. 20, 2003
Offense: Midfielder Emily Rodgers (Jr., Richfield, Minn.)
played a key role in the team's two non-conference wins last week. In
Saturday's 2-0 win over Con.-Moorhead she scored both of the team's goals.
She scored the first at 15:51 and the second at 28:10. She now has five
goals this year. Sunday she had another strong game in leading the team
with four shots.
Defense: Goalie Apryl Jennrich (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Centennial
HS) helped the Falcons to two wins last weekend. She recorded shutouts
in both games. She made eight saves against Con.-Moorhead and came back
with eight more in the win over UM-Crookston. She has not allowed a goal
in the past four games she has played in. Jennrich has recorded eight
shutouts this year and has 18 in her career.
Oct. 13, 2003
Offense: Defender Ashley Peterson (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Forest
Lake HS) had three strong games for the Falcons. Despite being a defender
she played a key offensive role for the Falcons as the team finished the
week with a 2-1 record. Peterson scored goals in games against Superior
and Mary and both were game-winners. She registered a shot on goal against
Eau Claire.
Defense: Midfielder Lisa McGuire (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn. Apollo
HS) had strong games in the three Falcon contests last week. She used
her good soccer sense to stop several runs by the opponents, and then
turned the stops into offensive chances for her teammates.
Oct. 6, 2003
Offense: Forward Amy Jensen (Fr., Plymouth, Minn. Bloomington Kennedy
HS) played three solid games for the Falcons to help the team to a
2-1 record during the week. Jensen scored the game-winning goal on a penalty
kick in overtime to help UW-RF to a 2-1 win at Concordia-St. Paul on Friday.
It was her four goal of the season. She also scored the team's second
goal in a 4-0 win over Bethany Lutheran. "Amy scored some important
goals this week," Coach Sean McKuras said.
Defense: Defender Gina Hawkins (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
Rosemount HS) played a key role for the Falcons in the team's three
games last week. The Falcons allowed just two goals in the three games
and finished with a 2-1 record. "Gina helped anchor a banged up defense,
and did a great job," Coach Sean McKuras said.
Sept. 29, 2003
Offense: Forward Sarah Carlson (So., Plymouth, Minn. Armstrong
HS) helped lead the Falcons to three wins in three games last week,
including two victories in WIAC play. Carlson, the team's leading scorer
with eight goals, scored the only goal of the game in overtime to help
the Falcons to a 1-0 win over La Crosse. In a 2-1 overtime win over UW-Oshkosh
she again scored the game-winner in overtime. She scored with just 15
seconds to play. In between, she scored both goals in the team's 2-1 non-conference
win over Carleton College. "There was some pressure on Sarah knowing
that her shot was going to be the last one of the game - and she made
it count," Coach Sean McKuras said.
Defense: Defender Ashley Peterson (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Forest
Lake HS) had three outstanding games for the Falcons in the team's
three wins last week. Normally and defender, she was moved to the midfield
position during the late stages of the La Crosse and Oshkosh games. At
Oshkosh, she scored the game-tying goal with about four minutes to play.
Then she got the assist on the team's game-winning goal in the second
overtime. "Her defensive play kept the game where we needed it and
that helped lead to the win," Falcon Coach Sean McKuras said about
Peterson's play in the Oshkosh game.
Sept. 22, 2003
Offense: Midfielder Lisa McGuire (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn. Apollo
HS) played a solid game on Saturday in the team's loss at UW-Stevens
Point. "Lisa played better and better as game went along," Falcon
Coach Sean McKuras said.
Defense: Defender Kelly Sapan (Fr., Rochester, Minn. Century HS)
was a key player for the Falcons in the team's game Saturday at UW-Stevens

said. "She was under a lot of pressure and she stepped her game up."

Offense: Forward Sarah Carlson (So., Plymouth, Minn. Armstrong
HS) helped the Falcons to two wins in two games last weekend. She
scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the team's 4-1 win over
St. Mary's. She scored in the 21st and 56th minutes of the game to give
the Falcons a 2-0 lead. Against Augsburg, she scored the team's second
goal in the 78th minute.
Defense: Defender Jessie Olson (So., Elk River, Minn.) played
strong defensively for the Falcons in the team's two wins last weekend.
UW-RF allowed just one goal in the two contests.
Sept. 8, 2003
Offense: Forward Sarah Carlson (So., Plymouth, Minn. Armstrong
HS) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just three minutes
into the game in the team's win over UW-Platteville Saturday at Ramer
Field. It was her first game in a Falcon uniform.
Defense: Defender Ashley Peterson (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn. Forest
Lake HS) played a strong game for the Falcons in the team's win over
UW-Platteville Saturday afternoon at Ramer Field. "She really added
to the team with her defensive skills and her free kick abilities,"
Falcon Coach Sean McKuras said. Two of her corner kicks helped lead to
Falcon goals.
