Leah Vanderploeg (Jr., Cable, Wis. Drummond HS) pitched in all six
games for the Falcons last week. She threw 31 and two-thirds innings and
finished with a 3-2 record. She had a 1.55 ERA in the six games. She allowed
seven earned runs, walked only five and struck out 27. Opponents hit only
.170 against her. She started four games and threw two completed games.
Player
Third baseman Emily Evans (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) was the team's
top hitter in the six games played last week. She finished the week with
a .444 batting average going 8-18 at the plate. She hit one home run.
She finished with a .611 slugging percentage and a .524 on base percentage.
She had three RBIs. She handled 15 fielding chances without an error.

Player
Second baseman Melissa Turbak (Sr., Little Canada, Minn. Roseville HS)
had the hot bat for the Falcons in the team's six WIAC games last week.
She hit .538 going 7-13 at the plate. She scored four runs and had two
RBIs. She finished with a .533 on-base percentage. She had one sacrifice
fly and two sacrifice bunts. She was perfect in the field handling 13
putouts and seven assists without an error.

Pitcher
Leah Vanderploeg (Jr., Cable, Wis. Drummond HS) pitched well in six
games for the Falcons last week. She pitched 30 and two-thirds innings
and finished with a 3.20 ERA in the games with a 1-2 record. She allowed
36 hits and 16 runs, 14 were earned. She walked 15 and struck out 14.
She picked up a win in the team's 3-0 home victory over St. Mary's on
Monday. She took losses in the team's 7-1 home loss to Stout on Thursday
and a 4-2 loss to St. Scholastica at the Eau Claire Tourney on Saturday.
Position Player
Third baseman Emily Evans (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) was one of
the team's top hitters in eight games played by the Falcons last week.
She finished the week with a .273 averaged and started every game at third.
She was 6-22 at the plate with one run scored. She hit two homers in the
week. The first was a two-run shot in a 3-0 home win over St. Mary's on
Monday and the second was in a 4-2 loss in the Eau Claire Tourney against
St. Scholastica on Saturday. She finished with three RBIs and a .545 slugging
percentage for the week. She had 38 chances in the field and had four
errors.

Position Player
Catcher Anna Poulter (Sr., Colfax, Iowa Colfax-Mingo HS) became
the WIAC's all-time career leader in stolen bases in the team's first
game at UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday. In the two games she stole three bases
and now has 32 this year and 100 in her career. She broke UWRF's Kristy
Dudek's record of 97. Dudek played for the Falcons from 1992-95.
In the two games she was 2-6 at the plate. She scored three runs and stole
the three bases. In the field she had six putouts and two assists with
no errors.

Pitcher
Leah Vanderploeg (Jr., Cable, Wis. Drummond HS) had two more solid
outings for the Falcons last weekend in the team's four wins at the Augsburg
Tournament held Saturday and Sunday in Minneapolis. Saturday she picked
up a 2-0 win over Augsburg. She pitched all seven innings and allowed
only three hits. She walked only one and struck out eight. She pitched
one inning on Sunday against UM-Morris. She walked one and struck out
two. She improved her record to 5-0 and has thrown four shutouts. She
leads the Falcons with a 0.94 ERA.
Position Player
Catcher Anna Poulter (Sr., Colfax, Iowa Colfax-Mingo HS) helped
lead the Falcons to four wins and a perfect record at the Augsburg Tournament
held Saturday and Sunday in Minneapolis. She finished 7-14 (.500) at the
plate. She scored six runs, walked twice and sole 10 bases. She was not
caught stealing in the four games. In the field she was perfect with 31
put outs and five assists. She threw out two of four base stealers. She
leads the Falcons with a .464 average and has stolen 29 bases in 31 attempts.
March 22, 2004
Pitcher
Leah Vanderploeg (Jr., Cable, Wis. Drummond HS) had a near perfect
week in the team's six games at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida. She
pitched in four games during the week and finished with a 3-0 record.
She picked up a 4-0 win over Westminister, a 4-0 win over Fairleigh-Dickinson
and a 2-1 win over Macalester. She was not involved in a decision in an
8-7 loss to Marian. She pitched 26 and two-thirds innings and allowed
23 hits. She allowed seven runs, only five were earned. She had a 1.33
ERA on the trip. She walked only seven and struck out 31.
Position Player
Shortstop Jassamy Schwartz (So., Maple Grove, Minn. Osseo HS) was
one of the Falcons top players in the team's six games at the Rebel Spring
Games in Florida. She was 8-23 at the plate for a .347 batting average.
She scored seven runs and had six RBIs batting in the No. 3 spot in the
lineup. She finished with one triple and one homer. She walked three times,
stole five bases in six attempts, had one sacrifice and was hit by a pitch.
In the field she had 12 putouts, 11 assists and two errors.
March 8, 2004
Pitcher
Devanie Bigalk (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) picked up two wins
on the mound for the Falcons at the Finlandia Dome Tournament held last
weekend in Hancock, Mich. Bigalk got wins in the team's 5-0 victory over
Alverno and a 9-1 win over Concordia. She took the loss in a 7-3 decision
to UM-Duluth. She worked 10 innings, allowed seven runs, five were earned.
She allowed 10 hits, walked five and struck out six.
Position Player
Center fielder Emily Rodgers (Jr., Richfield) and shortstop Jassamy
Schwartz (So., Maple Grove, Minn. Osseo HS) helped the Falcons to
three wins in four games at the Finlandia Dome Tournament held last weekend
in Hancock, Mich. Rodgers was 7-15 at the plate with three runs scored,
seven RBIs, two doubles and three stolen bases. She also played outstanding
defense making two at the fence catches against UMD. Schwartz was 7-15
at the plate with three runs scored, five RBIs, a double and two stolen
bases.
