Falcon Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

May 3, 2004

Track
Eric Nordgren (So., Lake Nebagaman, Wis. Northwestern HS)
: had a big improvement in the steeplechase at the WIAC Qualifier held Friday in La Crosse. He placed eighth overall with a time of 10:17.95, a season best time.

Field
Bronson Stelzer (Jr., Cadott, Wis.)
had one of his best throws in the javelin at the WIAC Qualifier held in La Crosse on Friday. He improved his best javelin throw to
168-5 which currently places him in the top three in the WIAC. He finished third overall.

April 26, 2004

Track
Kevin McDonough (So., Prescott, Wis.)
had a strong 5,000 meter race at the Macalester Twilight meet held Wednesday in St. Paul. He improved his time to 16:11.

Field
Lance Wiersma (Fr., Black River Falls, Wis.)
had some strong efforts at the Macalester Twilight meet held Wednesday in St. Paul. He won the high jump with a leap of 1.96-meters and ran a strong split on the winning 4x400 relay team. The Falcons finished first in 3:28.01.

 

April 19, 2004

Track
Ben Kirmse (So., Wild Rose, Wis.)
had a strong race in the 1,500 at the Blugold Open held Saturday at UW-Eau Claire. He placed fourth in the event running a season's best time of 4:02.28.

Field
Lance Wiersma (Fr., Black River Falls, Wis.) had two strong efforts at the Blugold Open held Saturday at UW-Eau Claire. He finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6-5 1/2. He also ran a :51 split with the 4 x 400 relay team that placed third in 3:28.44.

 

April 12, 2004

Track
Mike Zander (Jr., Fredonia, Wis. Ozaukee HS)
had two strong races at the Lee Krough Invitational held Friday at Gustavus Adolphus College. He placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 50.6. Zander also anchored the 4x400 meter relay to a season best time of 4:24. The relay team placed second and Zander's split was 49.5.

Field
Clint Christie (Fr., Tomah, Wis.)
had two strong performances in field events at the Lee Krough Invitational held Friday at Gustavus Adolphus College. He placed second in the long jump with a leap of 20-10 3/4 and second in the triple jump with a mark of 41-5 3/4.

April ,5 2004

Track
Jeremy Olson (Fr., Greenwood, Wis.)
was one of the Falcons top performers at the Norse Invitational held in Decorah, Iowa on Saturday. He finished seventh in the 10,000 in 34:32.22.

Field
Erik Olson (So., Shoreview, Minn. Mounds View HS) started the outdoor season where he left off from the indoor season at the Norse Invitational held in Decorah, Iowa on Saturday. He placed third in the discus with a toss of 144-10, seventh in the shot with a toss of 42-6 1/4 and eighth in the hammer with a 113-8 effort.

Wees Kennedy (Sr., St. Paul, Minn. Concordia Academy HS) ran well in the sprints at the St. Olaf Invitational held Saturday in Northfield, Minn. He finished second in the 55 meters in 6.48

Field
Lance Wiersma (Fr., Black River Falls, Wis.) had a fourth place finish in the high jump at the St. Olaf Invitational held Saturday in Northfield, Minn. He jumped 6-2, one of the best jumps for the Falcons this year.








Feb. 23, 2004

Track
Cary Cardinal (Fr., Amery, Wis.) had an excellent time in the 1500 at the Blue Devil Open Friday in Menomonie. He placed second in the race with a time of 4:13.

Field
Dean Harder (Sr., Frederic, Wis.) had two outstanding efforts in the field events at the Blue Devil Open held Friday in Menomonie. He placed first in the high jump, with a leap of 6-0 3/4, and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19-1 1/4.

Feb. 16, 2004

Track
Ben Kirmse (So., Wild Rose, Wis.)
had a strong effort I the 1,500-meter run at the Coca Cola Invitational held Saturday at the Knowles Building. He covered the race in 4:11 and placed second overall.

Field
Clint Christy (Fr., Tomah, Wis.)
performed well in the long jump at the Coca Cola Invitational held Saturday at the Knowles Building. He jumped 21-2 and placed third overall in the event.

Feb. 9, 2004

Track
Greg Greene (Fr., Osceola, Wis.)
showed more improvement in two dashes at the MSU-Mankato Open. He finished in 7.51 in the 60 and had a time of 24.32 in the 200.

Field
Erik Olson (So., Shoreview, Minn. Mounds View HS)
had two season-best throws at the MSU-Mankato Open. He placed seventh in the shot with a toss of 44-11 3/4. That was four feet better than his previous best. In the weight throw he improved his previous best by five feet and finished with a toss of 37-5 3/4.

Track
Jason Quarford (Fr., Rosemount, Minn.) finished ninth in the 3,000-meter run at the Husky Open held Saturday in St. Cloud. He ran the race in 9:45.03.

Field
Phil Richter (Fr., Amery, Wis.) placed sixth in the triple jump at the Husky Open held Saturday in St. Cloud. He leaped 41-2 1/2.

Jan. 26, 2004

Track
Andy Poterucha (Jr., Rochester, Minn. Lourdes HS)
finished second in the 55-meter hurdles to help lead the Falcons at the team's first meet of the season at the Blugold Open. He finished the race in 8.44 seconds.

Field
Andy Poterucha (Jr., Rochester, Minn. Lourdes HS)
placed first in the high jump in the team's first meet of the season at the Blugold Open. He jumped 1.88-meters to win the event.
