Eight to Join Falcon Men's Basketball Team

Eight student-athletes will join the 2003-04 Falcon men's basketball team, according to Coach Rick Bowen.

There are three transfers and five freshmen on the list. Forwards Bill Halter and Mark James and guard Tyler Pivec are the transfer students. Halter played at Moorhead, Minn., State, James at Scottsdale, Ariz., Community College and Pivec at Minneapolis, Minn., Technical and Community College.

Center Ryan Zylstra, guards Hans Hoeg and Lance Wiersma and forwards Ellery Burks and Corey Rondeau will be freshmen with the Falcons.

UW-RF finished 16-10 overall last year. The Falcons were 10-6 and finished tied for third place in the WIAC.

The Falcons open their 2003-04 season with two games at the Puget Sound Classic on Nov. 21-22. UW-RF plays Pacific Lutheran on Nov. 21 and Puget Sound on Nov. 22.
