Falcons Travel to Whitewater for WIAC Game

When: Saturday, Oct. 11 The Falcons travel to UW-Whitewater to face the Warhawks in a WIAC game Saturday. Kick off is slated for 1 p.m. The Falcons enter the game with an 0-3 overall record and they are 0-1 overall. UW-RF did not play last weekend. On Sept. 27 the Falcons lost a WIAC game at home to UW-Eau Claire, 42-28. Whitewater topped UW-Platteville, 20-14, last weekend at home. UWW has won three straight games and are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC. UWW's only loss (40-17) was to Mt. Union, the No. 1 ranked Div. III team in the nation. The Falcon offense leads the WIAC in rushing averaging 315 yards a game. Fullback Owen Schmitt leads the team with 349 yards. He is second, by a yard, in the WIAC. John Peterlik, who led the WIAC in rushing last year, is seventh with 340 yards. He has scored four touchdowns. Peterlik also leads the team with six receptions for 104 yards. Quarterback Troy Foss is third on the team in rushing with 124 yards. He has completed 12-29 passes for 181 yards. The leading tackler is safety Kyle Hoegh who has 25 stops. Corner Lewis Parish is second with 22. The Falcons have allowed 42.3 points a game, last in the WIAC. The Falcons have allowed opponents to run away with the game in the second and third quarters. UW-RF and its opponents have both scored 21 first quarter points. In the fourth quarter, the Falcons have scored 15 to the opponents 14. Opponents have a 28-10 advantage in the second quarter and a whopping 64-24 advantage in the third quarter. Offensively the Warhawks are led by two returning All-WIAC first team players. Center Chad Nimm and back Chad Wurth were both named to the first All-WIAC team last fall. Both have picked up where they left off. Wurth, who finished second in rushing in the WIAC last year with 1,093 yards, has rushed for 323 yards and four touchdowns this year. Quarterback Reggie Stauss is 54-104 passing for 667 yards and six scores. Sean Erner has caught 16 passes for 254 yards and one touchdown while Adam Whittaker has caught 13 for 147 yards and one score. The Warhaws average 150 rushing and 175 passing yards a game. Defensive leaders are Andy Lobdell, Trey Bell and John Stikl. Linebacker
Lobdell, who was named to the second All-WIAC team in 2002, has 31 tackles
while defensive back Bell and linebacker Stikl had 20 apiece. Lobdell
and Nick Zolper lead the Warhawks with three sacks each. The Warhawks
have allowed an average of 19.5 points a game. |
