Falcons Run at NCAA Regional Meet

Nov. 15, 2003

The Falcon men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Div. III Midwest Regional Saturday at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.

The men placed 21st of 32 teams and the women placed 11th of 35 teams.

Leading the women was Marlene Yaeger who ran the 6,000-meter race in 23:04. She placed 22nd overall. Marian Christen finished 51st overall in 23:36.

For the men, Kevin McDonough was the first Falcon to cross the finish line in the 8,000-meter race. He finished in 27:45 and placed 95th overall. Next for the Falcons was Bobby Hanson who placed 101st overall in 27:51.

Falcons Run at WIAC Meet

Nov. 1, 2003

The Falcon men's and women's cross country teams competed in the WIAC Championships Saturday morning at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.

The women placed sixth and the men eighth in the nine team meets.

Leading the women was Marlene Yaeger who placed 26th in a time of 23:18 over the 6,000-meter course. Yaeger, a goalie on the Falcon women's hockey team, played a game on Friday night, and returned to action after the race on Saturday to play in another hockey game on Saturday afternoon. Candy Jacobs was next for the Falcons and 33rd overall in 23:39.

For the men, Kevin McDonough was the first Falcon to cross the finish line in the 8,000-meter race. He finished in 27:07 and placed 63rd. Bobby Hanson was second for the Falcons in 65thh place in 27:18.

The Falcons will next run in the NCAA Div. III Regionals which will be held Nov. 15 at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.

Falcons Win Winona State Invitational Title

Oct. 18, 2003

The Falcon men's and women's cross country teams both won team titles at the Winona State Invitational held Saturday morning.

The Falcon women scored 24 points to beat Winona 48, St. Mary's 62 and Superior 112. The men scored 25 points to beat St. Mary's 67, Winona 70 and Superior 78.

For the women, Marian Christen was the individual winner covering the 5,000-meter course in 19:24. Marlene Yaeger placed fourth overall in 19:50. Jason Quarford again led the men with a third place finish overall in a time of 28:00 over the 8,000-meter course. Kevin McDonough was second for the Falcons and fourth oveall in 28:05.

The Falcons will next run in the WIAC Championships which will be held on Nov. 1. The meet will be run at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.

Falcons Run at Midwest Short-Long Course Meet

Oct. 3, 2003

The Falcon men placed seventh of 11 teams and the women were fifth of 14 teams at the Midwest Long-Short Course Challenge race held Friday in Colfax.

The men placed seventh with 114 points and the women were fifth with 81. Macalester won the team title with 18 points and Eau Claire won the women's with 38.

The men ran the 5,000-meter course and were led by Jason Quarford who finished 21st overall in 16:38.4. Kevin McDonough was next for UWRF in 16:41.2. He placed 26th overall.

The women ran the 3,000-meter race and Amanda Kozicky led the team with a ninth place finish in 11:23.7. Marian Christen was next for the Falcons in 21st place in 11:32.1.

The Falcons will next run in the Winona Invitational on Oct. 18. Action starts at 10 a.m.

Kozicky, Quarford Lead Falcons at Griak Invitational

Sept. 27, 2003

The Falcons had a strong showing at the Griak Invitational held Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Falcon women placed ninth of 26 teams and the men placed 30th of 43 squads.

For the women, Amanda Kozicky led the Falcons over the 5,000-meter course in a time of 20:09. She placed 39th overall. Melissa Phelps was second for the Falcons, and 55th overall, in 20:22.

For the men, Jason Quarford led the team for the third straight meet. He finished the 8,000-meter course in 28:16 and placed 151st overall. Kevin McDonough was next for the Falcons, in 194th place, in 28:31.

Friday the Falcons will run in the Long-Short Course Challenge in Colfax. Running starts at 4 p.m.

Kozicky, Quarford Lead Falcons at St. Olaf Invite

Amanda Kozicky led the women and Jason Quarford led the men at the St. Olaf Invitational held Saturday in Northfield, Minn.

Kozicky covered the 6,000-meter course in 23:50 and placed 10th overall. Quarford placed 41st overall in 28:12 over the 8,000-meter men's course. Marlene Yaeger wasn't far behind Kozicky. She placed 11th overall in 23:53. Next for the men was Scott Weispfenning who placed 51st overall in 28:42.

Saturday the Falcons run at the Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

Falcons Run Well at UMD Lester Park Invite

Sept. 13, 2003

The Falcon men's team placed third and the women placed fourth at the UM-Duluth Lester Park Invitational held Saturday.

For the men, Jason Quarford was the team's top finisher in 28:38.8 over the 8,000-meter course. Aaron Olson was next to cross the line for the Falcons in 29:37. Quarford placed 14th overall and Olson 22nd.

For the women, Marleene Yaeger paced the Falcons. She finished the 5,000-meter course in 20:07. Amanda Kozicky was close behind in 20:13.2. Yaeger placed 17th overall and Kozicky was 19th.
