Becker, Melzer Earn All-WIAC Honors

Guard Kent Becker (Jr., Stone Lake, Wis.) was named to the first team and forward Rich Melzer (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) received honorable mention to the All-WIAC men's basketball team. The Falcons finished in a tie for third place in the WIAC. They finished 14-11 overall and 9-7 in WIAC play. Becker led the Falcons in scoring averaging 16.4 points a game. He was 125-238 (.525) from the field including 38-82 (.463) from three-point range. He was 123-141 (.872) from the line. Becker averaged 4.4 rebounds a game and led the team in assists (100) and steals (53). He averaged 35.6 minutes of playing time a game, also tops on the team. Becker led the WIAC in steals and was second in three-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage. He was third in assists, fifth in scoring and seventh in field goal shooting. Becker received honorable mention to the All-WIAC team last year. Melzer finished second in scoring for the Falcons averaging 14.3 points a game. He was 139-273 (.509) from the field including 5-19 (.263) from three-point range. He was 61-95 (.642) from the line. He was second on the team in rebounding (5.8). He had 31 assists, led the team with 33 blocks and had 14 steals while averaging 24.9 minutes a game. |
