Falcon Baseball Players of the Week

May 6, 2002

Hitter
Outfielder Dan Kretovics (So., New Richmond, Wis.) helped the Falcons to two wins in five WIAC games last week. He was 4-13 at the plate for a .307 average. He scored three runs, had four RBIs and walked three times. He knocked in all of the Falcons’ four runs in the team’s 4-2 win at La Crosse.

Pitcher
Josh Eidem (Jr., Rochester, Minn. Mayo HS)
pitched in three games on the mound for the Falcons last week and finished 1-1 with a save. He pitched 15.1 innings and allowed 18 hits. He allowed six earned runs. He walked only three and struck out 11. He picked up a save in the team’s 7-5 win at Superior and beat La Crosse, 4-2.

 

 

 

April 29, 2002

Hitter
Eric Bartholomew (Sr., North St. Paul, Minn.)
had a hot bat for the Falcons last week. He was 9-19 at the plate for a .473 average. He scored five runs, had 10 RBIs, two doubles and four home runs.

Pitcher
Ryan Nickell (Fr., Cumberland, Wis.)
picked up two wins on the mound for the Falcons last week. He picked up an 8-2 win over Platteville and a 2-0 win over Oshkosh. He pitched 16 innings and allowed just eight hits. He allowed only two runs, one was earned. He walked six and struck out six.

 

 

April 22, 2002

Hitter
Eric Bartholomew (Sr., North St. Paul, Minn.) helped the Falcons to three wins in five games last week. He was 9-21 at the plate for a .428 average. He scored three runs and led the team with 10 RBIs. He hit two home runs and one double.

Pitcher
Phil Worm (So., Montgomery, Minn. Montgomery-Lonsdale HS)
pitched a great game for the Falcons in the team’s 9-4 win over Oshkosh. In eight innings he allowed just two hits, both singles. He allowed four runs, three were earned. He walked eight and struck out four. Oshkosh managed just three hits off of two UWRF pitchers in the game, the lowest hit total by the Titans this year.

 

 

April 15, 2002

Hitter
Brian Bosch (Jr., Vadnais Heights, Minn., White Bear Lake HS) played well for the Falcons in six WIAC games last week. He finished 5-21 at the plate with four runs scored and three RBIs. He hit two homers and one double. He had 38 putouts, three assists and two errors in the field playing both first base and in the outfield.

Pitcher
Dan Morgan (Jr., Ladysmith, Wis.) pitched in two games for the Falcons in the team’s weekend series at Whitewater. In Saturday’s first game, a 4-1 Whitewater win, he pitched the fill eight innings and allowed four runs, only one was earned. He allowed five hits, walked four and struck out four. Sunday he came in and picked up the save in the second game. He worked the final inning and allowed one hit and struck out one. "Dan came up to me and said he could throw the final inning if it was needed," Coach Steve Hucke said. "He went out and threw hard and well after throwing 130 pitches on Saturday."

 

April 8, 2002

Hitter
Catcher Greg Jacobs (So., Cumberland, Wis.) led the Falcon’s at the plate in the team’s four games at Stevens Point this weekend. He was 5-8 (.385) batting. He scored 3 runs, had one homerun, and had 4 RBIs.

Pitcher
Bruce Grandits (Jr., Roseville, Minn.)
pitched 7 1/3 innings for a 1-0 record this weekend. He stuck out 3 batters, allowed 11 hits, and walked one batter. He gave up only 6 runs, 5 were earned.
