Four Falcons Named to All-WIAC Baseball Teams

Falcon baseball players Dan Morgan (So., Ladysmith, Wis.) and Scott DeWyre (So., Glenwood City, Wis.) were both named to the first team and Adam Benson (Jr., Albert Lea, Minn.) and Tim Johnson (Sr., Eay Claire, Wis.) were both given honorable mention to the 2001 All-WIAC baseball team voted on by league coaches. Morgan, a right handed pitcher, led the Falcon pitching staff with four wins and finished with a 4-3 record. He led the team with 61.1 innings pitched and had a 3.82 ERA. He started seven games and completed five. He allowed 56 hits and allowed 32 runs, 26 were earned. He led the team with 54 strike outs and walked 21.Opponents hit .240 against him. DeWyre started and played in all 33 games. He led the team in hitting with a .398 average. He led the team in at bats (123), hits (49), doubles (5), triples (2), home runs (5), RBIs (33), slugging percentage (.634) and on-base percentage (.456). He scored 25 runs and stole six bases. The center fielder had a .971 fielding percentage. Johnson started and played in all 33 games. He finished second in hitting with a .330 average. He led the team in runs with 34 and was 38-115 at the plate. The Eau Claire Memorial product had nine doubles and one home run. He had 16 RBIs, led the team with 20 walks, had a .435 slugging percentage and a .454 on-base percentage. The second baseman had a .961 fielding percentage. Benson also played in and started all 33 games. He was 38-118 at the
plate for a .322 average, third on the team. He scored 17 runs, had two
doubles and three home runs. He had 26 RBIs, a .415 slugging percentage
and a .369 on-base percentage. He led the team with eight stolen bases.
The third baseman had a .897 fielding percentage. |
