Jordahl, Cooper Named WIAC May 6, 2008 Falcons Becca Jordahl (Jr., Pocatello, Idaho) and Vicki Cooper (Sr., DeForest, Wis.) were named the WIAC track & field championships Athletes of the Meet on Saturday at the conference championships in Eau Claire. Cooper, who was named the Field Athlete of the Meet, scored points in all four events she competed in at the WIAC meet and accounted for 22 of the team's 118 total points. She won the shot put with a throw of 44-11 3/4. That was her best throw of the season and is a NCAA Meet provisional qualifying mark . She placed third in the discus with a throw of 145-5, which was also her best throw of the year and also a NCAA Meet provisional qualifying distance. She placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 103-2 1/2 and placed seventh in the hammer throw with a throw of 148-6. Jordahl, who was named the Track Athlete of the Meet, scored 20 team points with two first place finishes. On Friday she won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:53.43. The time is a NCAA Meet provisional qualifying mark. Earlier this year at the Stanford Invitational she ran a 35:43.63 that automatically qualified her for the NCAA Meet, which will be held May 22-24 at UW-Oshkosh. On Saturday at the WIAC Meet she won the 5,000-meter run in 17:01.58. She beat the second place finisher by a minute. Her time was a NCAA Meet provisional qualifying time. |
