Singles
No. 1 player Katie Ostrowski (Sr., Wells, Minn. United South Central HS) played a great match in the team's 8-1 loss at UW-Eau Claire. Ostrowski, 5-9, beat her Eau Claire opponent in three sets. She won the first set, 6-1, but lost the second, 6-3. The third set went to a 10-8 tie breaker to earn Ostrowski a 7-6 win. She has a 5-8 overall record at No. 1.

Singles
Jenny Paxton (Fr., Bloomington, Minn. Jefferson HS)
fought back to earn a three-set win over a UW-Oshkosh opponent on Friday. Paxton, 5-6, lost the first set, 6-3. But she rebounded to win the second set, 6-1, and the third set, 6-3. The win helped the Falcons to a 6-3 WIAC win over the Titans. Paxton is now 9-3 playing all but one match at No. 3.

Doubles
The No. 1 doubles teams of Naomi Wolff (So., Middleton, Wis.) and Katie Ostrowski (Sr., Wells, Minn. United South Central HS) combined to earn an upset win over their UW-Oshkosh opponents in the team’s 6-3 win on Friday. The pair won 8-4 to earn their fourth win in 11 matches.

Singles
Amy Goertzen (Fr., Circle Pines, Minn. Centennial HS)
won three of four matches for the Falcons last week. Playing at No. 4, she beat a UW-Stevens Point opponent, 6-1, 6-1, in a WIAC match on Friday. On Saturday she came back to win twice - a 7-5, 6-4 win over a St. Scholastica player and a perfect, 6-0, 6-0, win over a Northwestern opponent. Goertzen is 8-3 overall this year and 2-1 in WIAC matches.

Doubles
The No 2 doubles team of Stacia Kozel (Jr., Lodi, Wis.) and Cassie Wood (Sr., Wells, Minn. United South Central) won two of four matches for the Falcons last week. The pair took a close 9-8 (9-7) win in a tie breaker in the team's match against UW-Stevens Point. On Saturday they topped a Northwestern team, 8-1. The doubles team is 5-4 this year overall and 2-1 in WIAC play.

Singles
Brittany Bonine (Jr., Delano, Minn.)
finished the week winning both matches she participated in at No. 6. She picked up one of three Falcon points against the University of St. Thomas, winning a hard fought match 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Her second win came against Stout in a WIAC match. Her solid play yielded a 6-0, 6-0 win in the Falcons 7-2 taming of Stout. With the help of freshmen Jenny Paxton, Bonine picked up another point for the Falcons at No. 3 doubles winning 8-1. On the season, Bonine is 5-1 in singles play and 2-1 at doubles play. Bonine is 5-1 in singles play this year.

Brittany Bonine (Jr., Daleno, Minn.) and Jenny Paxton (Fr., Bloomington, Minn. Jefferson HS) teamed up at No. 3 to win a point in the team's 7-2 WIAC win over UW-Stout. They took an 8-1 win. This was the first match of the season for the pair.

Sept. 21, 2009

Singles
Stacia Kozel (Jr., Lodi, Wis.)
finished 2-1 last week play at No. 5 for two matches and No. 4 in another. She started the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over her Bethel opponent. On Friday she claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at Ripon. In a WIAC match against Whitewater on Saturday, she lost a close match, 7-5, 7-5. She is 4-1 in doubles play this year.

Doubles
The No. 1 doubles teams of Naomi Wolff (So., Middleton, Wis.) and Katie Ostrowski (Sr., Wells, Minn. United South Central HS) played well in three matches last week. They finished with a 2-1 record. They started with an 8-5 win against Bethel, and came back on Friday with an 8-2 win at Ripon. Against Whitewater in a WIAC match they lost, 8-1. They are now 2-2 this season.

Singles
No. 1 player Katie Ostrowski (Sr., Wells, United South Central HS) was the difference in the team’s 5-4 season opening win at St. Norbert on Friday. “Katie was the last match on the court with the team score tied, 4-4. She won her match, 14-12, in a third set super tie breaker to help us to the win,” said Falcon Coach, Lee Lueck. Ostrowski, 5-9, is 1-1 in singles play this year.

Doubles
The No. 2 team of Stacia Kozel (Jr., Lodi, Wis.) and Brittany Bonine (Jr., Delano, Minn.) came back to win their match in the team’s 7-2 win at Lawrence on Saturday. They fell behind, 4-1, but came back to win, 8-5,” said Falcon Coach Lee Lueck. They are now 1-0 this year in doubles play.
