Assistant Coaches

Pam Latterell is in her second season as assistant softball coach at UW-River Falls.

"I am very excited about working with this year's team and reaching our goal of post season play," Latteral said.

Latterell was a starter for the Falcons in the 1993 season. She helped the Falcons to the WIAC Championship and a then school record 28 wins. She also played for three seasons at the College of St. Scholastica where she was a NAIA All-American and she was twice named to the all-conference team.

"I am thrilled to have Pam as an assistant coach," said Falcon Coach Jody Gabriel. "She has an exceptional softball background and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program."

She was a student coach for the Falcons in the 1991 and 1994 seasons. She was the team's hitting and fielding coach. Latterell was a starting outfielder in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League in 1995.

Latterell was inducted into the Foley, Minn., High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

She earned her undergraduate degree from UWRF in 1993 in broad field science. Latterell also earned a certificate in massage therapy in 2000 from the Sister Rosalind Gefre Schools and Clinics of Massage. She is currently in graduate school seeking dual masters degrees in sports medicine and coaching.

Since 2000 she has been an independent contractor in professional message therapy. Latterell is also a massage therapy instructor and teaching assistant. Latterell co-authored a self-published text book on massage therapy and co-authored Anatomy and Physiology Flashcards published by Pearson Apprentice Hall.

Amber Dohlman, returns for her fourth year with the Falcons in 2009 as an assistant coach after graduating last May from UW-River Falls with a degree in exercise science.

Dohlman works primarily with the outfielders and the team's offense. In the offseason, she does a lot of the team's recruiting.

The Riceville, Iowa, native was a four-year member of the Riceville High School softball team, where she was a three-year letter winner. In the spring of 2005, she coached the Stillwater eighth grade softball team. She is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and is involved in the National Fastpitch Coaches College. She is presently a One Star Master Coach through the college and is working towards her four star master coach accreditation.

In addition to coaching, she works in the Sports Information and the Athletic Departments doing game management for various Falcon teams on campus. Dohlman also works at a local sporting goods store in the Twin Cites.

Dohlman is the daughter of Marge and Lowell who reside in Riceville. She has two younger sisters; Carrie, who is a sophomore volleyball player at Northland College in Ashland, Wis., and Carmen, who is a junior at Riceville High School.

Brittany Rathbun is a student assistant coach with the 2009 Falcons and will be working with the Falcon pitching staff.

Rathbun earned four letters with the Falcons from 2005-08. She was a starting and relief pitcher who led the NCAA Div. III in saves in 2006 (9). After the 2005 season she was named the team’s Co-Most Improved Player and earned the team’s No-Most Valuable Player award in 2006. She was twice named a WIAC softball Player of the Week. She holds the school record for career saves record (16) and earned runs allowed (125). She is third in career strike outs (305) and fifth in career wins (34) and career innings pitched (417.2).

The Rochester, Minn., native earned honorable mention to the 2005 and 2006 All-WIAC teams. An outstanding student, she was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete, and was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, in all four seasons she competed with the Falcons.

Rathbun is majoring in elementary education with a coaching minor.
