Kantrud Named to WIAC Golf All-Sportsmanship Team

Falcon Katie Kantrud has been named to the 2007 WIAC golf All-Sportsmanship team.

The WIAC announced its inaugural All-Sportsmanship Team for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.  The team included one member from each school as selected by that school.

Kantrud, a junior from Fergus Falls, Minn., played in all five matches and 10 rounds. She finished with an average of 95 strokes per round.

Falcons Complete Season at WIAC Championships

Katie Kantrud, Jenna Gutzwiller and Anne Foote all competed in the second day of the WIAC Championships held at the Windwood Golf Course in Watertown.

All three Falcons shot better scores on Sunday. Kantrud was the top UWRF finish. On Sunday she shot an 86 to go along with a 93 from Saturday. She finished with a 179 total. Gutzwiller shot an 88 on Sunday to finish at 182. She had a 94 on Saturday. Foote shot a 108 on Sunday. She finished with a 220 total. She shot a 112 on Saturday.

Eau Claire's Meghan Sobotta won the individual title with a two-day total of 159. She shot 80 on Saturday and a 79 on Sunday. She defeated Stevens Point's Michelle Pascavis by one stroke. Pascavis was the leader after the first day with a 77.

Stevens Point won the team title with 656 strokes followed by Oshkosh 687, Whitewater 690, Eau Claire 696, Platteville 708, Superior 717 and Stout 725. The Falcons, with only three golfers, did not have a team score.

Falcons Compete at WIAC Championships

Katie Kantrud, Jenna Gutzwiller and Anne Foote all competed in the first day at the WIAC Championships being held at Windwood Golf Course in Watertown.

Kantrud was the top UWRF finish after shooting a 93. Gutswiller was just a shot behind with a 94. Foote finished with a 112.

Stevens Point's Michelle Pascavis is the individual leader after shooting a 77.

Stevens Point has the team lead with a first round total of 327. They lead second place Oshkosh by 14 strokes.

The Falcons will compete in the second day of the WIAC Championships on Sunday. The first tee time is set for 9 a.m.

Falcons Compete at UWSP Invitational

Sept. 30, 2007

Katie Kantrud and Anne Foote competed in the second day of the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Sunday.

Kantrud shot a 100 on Sunday to go along with the 100 she shot on Saturday for a two-day total of 200. She placed 35th. Foote shot a 117 on Sunday to go along with the 123 she shot on Saturday to finish with a 240. She placed 45th. Par at the Stevens Point Country Club is 73.

Stevens Point won the team title with 641 strokes.

The Falcons will compete in the WIAC Championships that will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Windwood Golf Course in Watertown.

Falcons Compete at UWSP Invitational

Sept. 29, 2007

Katie Kantrud and Anne Foote competed in the first day of the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Saturday.

Kantrud shot 48 on the front nine and finished at 100 for the round. Foote shot a 63 on the front nine and finished with a 123. Par at the Stevens Point Country Club is 73.

Stevens Point holds the team lead after the first day with 317 strokes.

The Falcons will compete in the second day of the meet on Sunday.

Falcons Compete at Division III Midwest Classic

Sept. 23, 2007

Katie Kantrud was the top Falcon finisher at the Division III Midwest Classic that finished play on Sunday.

Kantrud shot a 99 on Sunday to go along with the 95 she had on Saturday to finish with a 194 total. She placed in a tie for 54th place. Jenna Gutzwiller shot a 102 on Sunday and finished with a 198 and placed 58th. She shot a 96 on Saturday. Courtney Swanson shot a 116 on Sunday to go along with the 107 she shot on Saturday to finish with a 223 total. She placed in a tie for 74th place.Par at the Troy Burne course was 71.

The Falcons will next play at the Stevens Point Invitational next Saturday and Sunday.

Falcons Compete at Division III Midwest Classic

Sept. 22, 2007

The Falcon golf team competed in the first day of the Division III Midwest Classic on Saturday at the Troy Burne Golf Course near Hudson.

Katie Kantrud shot a 95 and is tied for 47th place after the first day. Jenna Gutzwiller was just a stroke behind Kantrud with a 96. She is in 51st place. Courtney Swanson shot a 107 and is in 70th place. Par on the course was 71.

The Falcons will play on Sunday in the second day of the tourney.

Falcons Compete at UWO Invitational

Sept. 9, 2007

Falcon golfers Katie Kantrud, Jenna Gutzwiller and Courtney Swanson all competed in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational over the weekend.

Kantrud shot a 103 on Saturday and came back with a much beter round of 89 on Sunday to finish at 192. Gutzwiller shot a 98 on the first day and a 104 on Sunday for a 202 total. Swanson shot 104-106 for a two-day total of 210. UW-Stevens Point's Michelle Pascavis shot a 156 to win individual honors.

Par was 73 on the Westridge Golf Coure.

Stevens Point won the team title with 664 strokes.

The Falcons will next play at the Carthage Invitational on Friday, Sept. 21.

Kantrud, Gutzwiller Compete at UWEC Invitational

Sept. 2, 2007

Falcon golfers Katie Kantrud and Jenna Gutzwiller competed in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational this weekend.

On Sunday the tourney was played at the par 73 Mill Run Golf Course.

Kantrud shot a 96 to finish with a two-day total of 185. She tied for 61st place. She shot 89 on Saturday. Gutzwiller shot a 98 for a two-day total of 197 and she tied for 84th place.She shot 99 on Saturday.

Eau Claire's Megan Sobotta was the medalist with a two-day total of 158.

St. Thomas won the team title with a two-day total of 654

The Falcons will next play at the Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Kantrud, Gutzwiller Competing at UWEC Invitational

Sept. 1, 2007

Falcon golfers Katie Kantrud and Jenna Gutzwiller are competing in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational this weekend.

On Saturday the 19 teams played the par 72 Mill Run Golf Course.

Kantrud shot 45-44 for a 89 while Gutzwiller shot 54-45 for a 99.

Eau Claire's Megan Sobotta is the leader after the first day with a two-over par 72.

Wartburg has the team lead with a first day total of 323.

The second day's action will be played at the Mill Run Golf Course.
