Football Newsletters

Sept. 11, 2009

Dear Falcon Fans,

Weekly Wrap Up
I have posted my first weekly game wrap up which you can view in our Enewsletter area. Hopefully we will have happier news to report in the future.

Bye Week
We had a bye week this week with our next oppopnent being Northwestern College in St. Paul. We play them on Saturday, Sept. 19 in St. Paul. Come on over and cheer the Falcons on! We practice three times this week and our players have off Friday and Saturday which will be a welcome reprieve for EVERYONE in the program.

St. John’s
Looking back on the game with St. John’s I think we may have set an attendance record. The atmosphere at Ramer was fabulous! Our parents were there in numbers! Our new Touchdown Club had their tent up and running and we had large numbers becoming members! The game was a “fans” game. Your Falcons played tough and I think people can see that we have a team with a lot of talent. We need to continue to improve in fundamental ways in preparation for conference play. If you were not able to join us that day I think you will see a similar atmosphere at our next home game when we play Alma on Sept. 26! Come on out and cheer your Falcon players on.

Team Captains
On Friday before the St. John’s game our seniors chose their captains. We left this decision in their hands because it is such a large group and they are the one’s who could best decide this important decision. Our 2009 captains are: Ryan Hansen tight end from Grantsburg Wisconsin – majoring in horticulture ; Conner Graves tight end from Grantsburg Wisconsin – majoring in exercise science; Cole Lowell linebacker from White Bear Lake Minnesota – majoring in business; Ben Arata defensive back from Menominee Falls Wisconsin – majoring in finance.

This is a great group of student athletes who to the man is a prototype of what a Student Athlete should be.

Upcoming Events
September 19
at Nortwestern College - see you there!

September 26 at Ramer Field vs. Alma College from Michigan.
This is also Homecoming. We will recognize our 1979 and 1984 teams at halftime! We are sponsoring our Alumni Breakfast with the Team. We will have this at the new Best Western in town. We will eat at 9 a.m.! If you are interested in attending please contact Dori Holter at doris.holter@uwrf.edu The cost will be $9 and of course we will accept any donation for the cost of a breakfast for our players.

We will also gather after the game at Juniors which is also at the Best Western.

Touchdown Club
We inaugurated Chris O’Brien (OB) as our FIRST President of the new Touchdown Club! OB along with Dan Vande Yacht, Chris Krueger and Phil Gribble are the ones who have put in the most time developing this booster club. They will be present at every home game and new members can join then for a low fee of $25. We hope to have FREE brats for all members at HOMECOMING and we urge everyone to supply your own beverage. Make sure you stop by the tent. It would be nice if we could enroll EVERY ALUM in this Club. Every dollar that we raise will be used to support Touchdown Club events AND more importantly we will use it to help Falcon Football with needs that cannot be covered in the budget including ACADEMIC initiatives to support the Falcon athletes on their journey toward academic success.

STOP BY THE TOUCHDOWN CLUB TENT!

GO FALCONS!
