Named to All-Sportsmanship Team
March 6, 2008
Forward Caitlin Hunstock (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. South HS) has earned honorable mention to the 2008 All-WIAC women's basketball team.
Hunstock, 5-10, led the Falcons in scoring averaging 12.1 points a game. She finished second in rebounding with a 4.9 average. She was 125-280 (.446) from the field, including 47-104 (.452) from three-point range. She finished 17-27 (.630) at the line for 314 points. Hunstock finished second on the team in three pointers and led the Falcons in three-point field goal percentage. She also had 22 assists, 12 blocks and 28 steals. In the WIAC, she was third in three pointers and second in three-point field goal percentage.
Hunstock was also named to the WIAC's All-Sportsmanship team. The team is for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. The team included one member from each school as selected by that school.
"Caitlin has worked extremely hard on her game and it obviously paid off this year for her," said Falcon Coach Cindy Hovet. "To play a very limited role for us last season, and then return this year to lead us in scoring, is a huge testament to her perseverance and love of the game. She has great hands and as soft a touch on the basketball as I've seen. She shot 45 percent from the three-point line and could score on a fade-away from just about anywhere, so she was a tough match-up for opposing post players. I'm proud of the way Caitlin competed and represented River Falls as a team captain this year."
The Falcons finished the year 8-17 overall.
