WHO WE ARE:

Socialist Alternative is exactly what the name implies – an alternative to the two parties that represent big business.

• We are workers, youth, women, immigrants and other unrepresented groups fighting to end discrimination and prejudice based on the grounds of race, sex, ethnic background, sexuality and disability.

• We fight for the rights of everyday working people against the inequality and injustice perpetuated by the capitalist system. We advocate the building of a mass workers party to represent the needs of real people.

• We campaign for issues such as: free high-quality public education from pre-school through college, socialized medicine under democratic control, safe and affordable publicly owned transportation, massive investment in environmental clean up, and taking into public ownership, under democratic working class control and management, the top 500 corporations, banks, insurance and finance houses that dominate the economy.

• We advocate compensation to be paid on the basis of proven need and the end to the rule of profit, for a socialist society to meet the needs of all.

• Socialist Alternative at UWRF is part of a national organization by the same name. Our national organization has a presence in Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston and New York among other cities.

• Socialist Alternative is in political solidarity with the CWI (Committee for a Workers’ International), a worldwide socialist organization in 37 countries, on every continent.
