Monday-Friday, July 7-11 and 14-18

9 a.m.-12 noon - Discover U
Discover U is a summer program open to all students entering grades 4-9 in the fall of 2008. A step beyond the traditional classroom, each class is tailored to students entering either grades 4-6 or grades 7-9. Subject matter is presented in such a way as to ignite imagination, expand perspectives and provide a fun, hands-on environment for learning. Classes are taught by university faculty and other specially selected teachers. New classes this year include offerings in digital photography, rocketry, river stewardship, web design and a mock emergency room. Classes meet for one week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Course descriptions, program information, online registration and a printable catalog are all available on the web site at www.uwrf.edu/discoveru or call the Outreach Office at (715) 425-3256 or send an email to outreach@uwrf.edu.

The St. Croix Valley Community Band is celebrating 25 years of bringing music to the valley. Founded by Dr. Kristin Tjornehoj, UW-River Falls, the ensemble is comprised of community members from the throughout the region.
Location: Lakefront Park (Phipps Center for the Arts 25th Anniversary Gala Celebration), Hudson, WI.

UW-River Falls 28th Food Microbiology Symposium
The Technical program consists of lecture/discussions on food-borne pathogens, toxins, safety, quality, and shelf-life issues by speakers from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies. Presentations will also be given by representatives of carious companies involved in developing and marketing rapid and automated methods for microbiological analysis of food, water, and the environment.
