ROTC... "The Falcon Company"
Army ROTC is a program of leadership and military skills. Army ROTC is new here are UWRF and we are extremely excited to offer this quality leadership training to students. ROTC prepares students to become Army officers while they earn their college degrees. This year (2007-2008), we have 24 students enrolled in ROTC and we look forward to more joining our ranks in the future. Do you have what it takes to try out Army ROTC as an elective?

Today's employers are looking for college graduates who can manage productive teams, solve problems, and make decisions. In short, they are looking for LEADERS. Army ROTC is one program at UWRF that focuses on leadership. Army ROTC courses and activities develop your confidence and provide practical leadership experience. In addition we have several cadets in our ranks who are veterans and know how help individuals become LEADERS!

UWRF Army ROTC graduates double their career opportunities after college; their officer credentials often place them first-in-line for job offers. All ROTC graduates enter full-time active or part-time reserve duty with immediate officer leadership responsibilities. If you take ROTC to try it out and get top notch leadership training; then decide it is not for you, you are not required to join the Army.
How do I get into the Program?
Getting into UWRF Army ROTC is as easy as registering for a freshmen course. Students who enter after their freshmen year may double up on classes or take five weeks of summer training (with pay) in order to catch up and qualify to ender advanced courses. Veterans and students serving in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve qualify to enter directly into the advanced course with outstanding financial benefits.
What else does the program offer?
Army ROTC cadets put their leadership studies into action during tow field training exercises (FTXs) each year. Cadets also have opportunities for summer internships at Army posts, special military training such as airborne school, and extracurricular activities and social events.
What is the Obligation?
Introductory basic courses let you take a look at officer opportunities without obligation!* Once you accept a scholarship or contract through SMP, you make a commitment to serve as an officer on active or reserve duty when you graduate. Initial active duty obligation is three to four years.
*During the first two years, ROTC cadets have no military obligation (or the first year in the case of scholarship winners).
