Psi Chi Chapter

Psi Chi is the national honor society for psychology. It recognizes students who demonstrate both academic and personal excellence.

The University of Wisconsin - River Falls Psi Chi chapter provides members with opportunities to find out more about graduate school and careers in psychology and related fields, engage in and present research, and get to know other students with similar academic interests and goals.

Criteria

According to the UW-RF chapter of Psi Chi, the following criteria must be met for an indivudal to be asked to become a Psi Chi member:

1) Students must be either psychology majors or psychology minors

2) Students must have a cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

3) Students must have at least 12 credits completed in psychology

4) Students must have a cumulative psychology GPA of 3.5 or higher

5) Students must earn participation and volunteer points

During the course of the academic year, Psi Chi members are engaged in a number of interesting and informative activites. These activities include promoting research, discussion of potential career paths, and local community service projects.

Psi Chi encourages active scholarship and service. As you can see by the photos and descriptions below, the UW-RF chapter of Psi Chi has more than lived up to this challenge!

A Psi Chi spearheaded a food drive in December of 2001 generated over 2000 items for the local food shelf!



In April, 2002, Psi Chi challenged students to assist local shelters through the donation of clothing items. The two week long drive began with a goal of 300 items. The final tally was 1298! Psi Chi members Rob Maxwell, Amanda Jagodzinski, Carrie Lovmo model some of the items about to be toted to their destination.
