Animal Behavioral Society - Educational Resources
Animal loves rejoice, a great new site has joined the psychology cool-links network.

Animal Trainer's Introduction to Classical & Operant Conditioning
"WOW!" is one word to describe this colorful, engaging, and informative site dedicated to the issue of animal training and conditioning theories of psychology. While brief, the site does a nice job of explaining sometimes difficult concepts of positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, and negative punishment.

Behavioral Analysis Resources
Are you interested in the experimental analysis of behavior? If "Yes," then this is the site for you! Highlights of this location include a review of behavioral terminology, a link to the B. F. Skinner Foundation, a link to the Association for Behavioral Analysis.

Evolutionary Psychology for the Common Person
This colorful site addresses the field of evolutionary psychology across many levels. It offers a nice overall review of the field including an interesting essay concerning the question "What is Evolutionary Psychology?" It also contains a well developed recommended readings section which, in conjunction with Amazon.com (an internet bookseller), allows the visitor to order the text directly from the site.

Minnesota Raptor Center
The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota provides medical treatment for injured birds of prey. This web site includes general information about birds of prey, raptor images, raptor audio, and educational projects.

Yerkes Regional Primate Center
This gate-way link offers the visitor access to information about the world-famous Yerkes Primate Center. Those will an interest in comparative psychology will definately want to check out the internal links on the history of the center, current research, and general information about primates. The site also provides information on school projects for students from elementary school through college.

Anxiety Disorders Association of America
Have no fear, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America site is here! Whether you are looking for some basic information on such anxiety disorders as post-traumatic stress disorder, specific phobias, or generalized anxiety disorder or are searching for consumer resources or even require professional assistance, the ADAA home page should be your starting point. I especially like the easy-to-follow organization. Check it out!

Eliza (your very own personal Person-Centered Therapist)
At this highly unusual site, Eliza (a computer-based person-client therapist) responds to queries concerning your mental health. It's HAL, 1984, and Carl Rogers all rolled into one. You have got to see the sight to believe it!

Schizophrenia Homepage
This striaghtforward site provides tons of information on schizophrenia. Be sure to check of the American and European diagnostic criteria along with problems of misdiagnosis.

The Shyness Homepage
The shyness home page, sponsored by The Shyness Institute, Portola Valley, California, offers links to information and resources for individuals interested in the issue of shyness. Current links include: The Shyness Reading List, The Shyness Clinic, and "Shyness" in the "Encyclopedia of Mental Health." A Memory Artist: An Artist Paints His Childhood:
This fascinating site does a masterful job of combining visual art and cognitive psychology. At this site you will learn about Franco Magnani who was born in Italy but moved to the United States as a child. This self-taught artist paints pictures of Italy from memory. By comparing the artist's painting to actual photographs, the developers of the site are able to demonstrate both strenghts and limitation of human memory. I would rate this site a "must see!"

Cognitive Science
The American Assoication for Artificial Intelligence's Cognitive Science area offers visitors an extensive list of materials concerning applied aspects of cognitive science.

Cave of Magic
This short but sweet site contains an amazing psychic demonstration. First, play the card game. Then attempt to figure out the "magic."

Exploratorium's Online Exhibits
A highly interactive and colorful site, Exploratorium's Online Exhibits is a "must see" for those interested in perceptual illusions. The depth spinner will blow your mind!

Gallery of Visual Illusions
This strightforward site offers visitors a chance to view numerous classic visual illusions of color, depth, shading, and figure-ground. Be sure to check out all the images.

Gareth and Peter's SIRDS pages
In addition to providing the user a chance to view some great Single Random Dot Stereograms (SIRDS) like an Escher Knot and the Starship Enterprise, this United Kingdom site also provides lots of links to other SIRD-related web pages.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy: Cognitive Science
This site offers access a vast array of information about cognitive science including links to other cognitive science web sites.

Alzheimer's Association
The Alzheimer's Association web site contains a great deal of information for all people interested in learning more about this disorder. Some highlights include "The Facts" (general information about Alzheimer's disease)," "Taking Care" (resources for those caring for individuals with Alzheimer's, and "Medical Issues" (containing cutting edge reports on cause and treatment). This is one well designed site.

American SIDS Institute
Interested in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome? If so, then the American SIDS Institute website may have just what you are looking for. I like both the clear format as well as the link selection, including Research, How can I fight SIDS, and Links to other SIDS sites.

Arc of the United States
As stated on their home page, "The Arc (formerly Association for Retarded Citizens of the United States) is the country's largest voluntary organization committed to the welfare of all children and adults with mental retardation and their families. This well developed web site contains numerous resources including: fact sheets, state home pages, and a discussion board.

Autism Society of America
The stated mission of this organization is to "promote lifelong access and opportunities for persons within the autism spectrum and their families, to be fully included, participating members of their communities through advocacy, public awareness, education, and research related to autism." Its web site offer viewer a chance to acquire a great deal of information about autism, including a description of similar, yet distinct disorders. This site is a multiple award winner!

The Baby Center
This very cool web site has an astonishing number of links for information about pregnancy and the human infant. Co-sponsored by serveral companies which sell infant products, the site offers visitors a chance to learn about birth, babies, toddlers, and more. You can also register to receive a weeklynewletter corresponding to your developing youngster. A cool and colorful site!

Child Development Theories
This solid site offers access to classic theories of child development including those of Freud, Piaget, and Erikson.

Chromosome and Genetic Links
The Chromosome and Genetic Links site delivers as advertised. From this colorful and interactive page, one can access information on a multitude of types of genetic disorders. It also contains discussion about general genetic topics as well as information about specific chromosomes.

Cloning - New Scientist Articles
Interested in the role of biotechnology in human development (i.e., baby-making-technology, Parkinson's disease)? If yes, then you may want to check out this straightfoward site from the New Scientist. It contains numerous links to articles on cloning, stem cell research and other related topics.

Circle of Inclusion
As parents, teachers, and others strive to improve the life experiences of exceptional indiviudals, the issue of inclusion has become a major focus of attention. Anyone wanting to learn more about inclusion should be sure to check out this colorful and informative site (funded by the United States Department of Education). Higlights include learning modules, downloadable forms, and inclusion guidelines.

Genetics and In Vitro Fertilization Institute
Another nice site dedicated to the issue of assisted reproductive technology. It is colorful, informative, and well maintained.

Healthopedia: Alzheimer's
The Healthopedia site offers some great up-to-date information about Alzheimer's disease. You can also search for other health-relted information throught the site.

Learning Disabilities Association of America
The Learning Disabilities Association of America site contains information of interest to parents, professionals, and those with a learning disability. Key links available include "fact sheets," "what's new," and "LDA membership information."

National Center for Health Statistics
Interested in the current rate of AIDS, teen births, typical growth patterns for children? If so, then this National Center for Health Statistics site is just what the doctor ordered! A colorful and extensive site with links to hundreds of studies and data sources, this page is a "MUST SEE!"

The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities
The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY) web site is one of premier resource stops for anyone interested in exceptionality. NICHCY is the national (United States) information and referral center that providing information on disabilities and disability-related issues (special focus on children and youth) for families, educators, and other professionals. The site recently won the Health Improvement Institute's Aesculapius Award of Excellence for health-related World Wide Web sites. Be sure to check out the "state resource sheets."

NOVA online/Odessey of Life
This fabulous link from the PBS website offers an exciting look at the developing human embryo. Two highlights of the site are 1) the morphing embryo (a stunning visual depiction of development during the embyronic period), and 2) and interview with cutting edge photographer Lennart Nilsson. Wow!

Really Big List of Classroom Management Resources
The Really Big List of Classroom Management Resources is one SUPER SITE that really lives up to it's name! With more than 400 links, this a superb resource for teachers and parents alike!

Visible Embryo
This multiple award winning site offer a huge amount on information (both text and graphic) on the human organism as it develops from ovulation through the fetal stage. One nice element is the visible "spiral" depicting 23 distinct stages of prenatal change. The site also features games and additional web links. Check this baby out!

This straightforward site is devoted to deliniating the ethicals do's and don't for professional psychologists (both researchers and clinicians). Though not flashy, it does provide a comprehensive review.

Cyberlab for Psychological Research
This fabulous site created by Dr. Megan Bradley at Frostburg State University contains numerous tutorials and activities for students learning concepts related to conducting research in psychology. A MUST SEE for all!

Experimental Psychology Lab
At this multiple award winning site students can serve as actual participants in world wide research projects being conducted via the web. This site's main physical location is at the University of Zurich, while the historical root remains at the University of Tubingen, where this lab was founded in 1995.

Internet Glossary of Statistical Terms
Created by the Animated Software Company, this straightforward stie offers students access to stastical terms from "alpha" to "Z score." WHile some of the graphics are a little crudely drawn, this is still a great link for any student needing assistance in statistics or research methods.

Pitfalls of Data Analysis
While not flashy, the appropriately titled "Pitfalls of Data Analysis (or How to Avoid Lies and Damned Lies)" statistics site provides a nice written overview of statistical errors and baises. It is a good read for both the novice and intermediate student of statistics.

Psychology Experiments on the Net
This American Psychological Society site offers you the opportunity to be a subject in numerous on-line experiments in the fields of sensation & perception, social, cognitive, and developmental psychology.

Psychology With Style
This hypertext site authored by Dr. M. Plonsky at the Univerisity of Wisconsin-Stevens Point offers an excellent review of APA style and the construction of an APA style research paper.

Raynald's SPSS tools
Raynald Levesque of Montreal, Canada, a self-described "enthusiastic user of SPSS software" has developed a very interesting website at which he offers free advice to those using SPSS software to analyze data. With over 19,000 visitors in less than one year, this site appears to have what people want!

Need help with SPSS, finding Macintosh statistical software, or reading missing data directly into LISREL? Then you may want to check out the well designed Statistical Services FAQs web site. It is a definite must for both the novice statistician as well as the seasoned stat veteran.
