Asian Studies
Dr. Gray has taught comparative politics and Asian studies at
Providence and Macalester colleges and the universities of Louisville,
Minnesota, and Port Harcourt (Nigeria). She has also lived and worked for
a number of years in China, teaching English and studying Chinese at
Liaoning University.
From 1992-1995, she was executive director of the Program for
International Studies in Asia (PISA) based in Washington, DC. PISA is a
program under the auspices of the American Council of Learned Societies,
which sponsors activities to help strengthen international relations
research, teaching, and policy analysis in East and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Gray has also been a program officer in the US foreign policy
department of the Stanley Foundation, based in Muscatine, Iowa, where she
was responsible for the Emerging From Conflict foreign policy program,
developing activities to facilitate dialogue and mutual understanding
between the United States and a number of countries with which it has
conflict.
