ResearchResearch interests at UWRF include laser physics (McCann), liquid crystals (Korenic), astronomical photography (Vonk), and astrophysics (Hardtke), (Madsen) and (Spiczak). The international IceCube project is a collaborative effort involving 15 U.S. groups together with partners from Belgium, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, and The United Kingdom. They are working to better understand some of the most energetic events in the universe. UW-River Falls is one of two undergraduate schools involved. UW-RF students and faculty (Abuzayyad,Hardtke, Madsen, Spiczak, Tamburro) participate in this cutting-edge experiment to construct and operate a high energy neutrino telescope embedded in the 3 km thick South Polar Ice Cap. IceCube efforts at UWRF can be found here.
