- field studies of basal till deformation on glaciers in Sweden and laboratory studies of sediment deformation at the University of Minnesota (with Neal Iverson).
- Glacial stratigraphy of the mid continent -
- field and laboratory studies of the glacial sequence in the North-Central U.S. including pedogenic and paleomagnetic investigations.
- Hydrology and surface-water quality -
- long-term studies of the impact of highway construction activities on surface-water quality in western Wisconsin.
Given over 100 seminars, lectures, and talks ranging from presentations at international meetings (Cambridge, England, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Canada, and San Antonio, Texas) to seminars at colleges and universities (Lehigh University, Lafayette College, University of Minnesota at Minneapolis and Duluth, Michigan Technological University, University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Eau Claire and Parkside, and the University of Stockholm, Sweden), and talks to civic and school organizations.
