China Series Presents Speakers at UWRFAPRIL 4, 2008--Two guest speakers for a new "Focus on China" series, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls College of Arts and Sciences, are scheduled in the University Center in April. On April 7, Wang Ping, an associate professor of English at Macalester College, will present, "Women in Modern China," in the Wind River Room of the University Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m. She will focus primarily on the changing roles of women in China and how gender identity has evolved in popular culture. On April 14, Doryun Chong, assistant curator for visual art at the Walker Art Center, will present, "Contemporary Chinese Art in the Global Spotlight" in the Apple River Room of the University Center from 1 to 2:30 p.m. He will discuss the emergence of a young generation of contemporary Chinese artists who have attracted widespread international attention.
