UWRF To Host Board of Regents MeetingSEPT. 17, 2007--The UW System Board of Regents will hold its first meeting at UWRF in nearly six years on Oct. 4-5. The 18-member board sets policy for UWRF and the other 25 System campuses, and manages an annual budget of $4.3 billion. The System annually enrolls more than 160,000 students. Chancellor Don Betz said the visit represents an excellent setting for the Regents to learn more about the University and the St. Croix Valley. "This meeting will enable the Regents to meet with students, faculty, staff and regional leaders to learn more about the tremendous growth and change that the St. Croix Valley is undergoing. "They will hear about our institutional intentionality through our strategic plan, "Living the Promise," to educate the region's students as well as of our collaborations with business, industry, non-profits and government to advance our economy and quality of life. "As the governing body of Wisconsin's economic engine, this will help the Regents to directly appreciate the influence they have in assisting this campus and region to capitalize on our opportunities and realize their potential for the benefit of everyone." Throughout the regular business meetings, UWRF faculty, staff, students and friends will provide presentations on the University, its budget and campus planning, global connections, and collaborations between the campus, business and industry, government and non-profits. Regents will be provided with an overview presentation of UWRF and the St. Croix Valley, and hear about campus education initiatives such as international studies programs and campus sustainability initiatives. All activities are in the University Center.
