Phi Delta Kappa Lecture SetNOV. 10, 2006--A free brown-bag lunch lecture will explore the idea that boys are "falling through the cracks" of American schools on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Room 122, of the Wyman Education Building at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The talk, "Finding a Place for Tom Sawyer: The Plight of Boys in School and Society," is sponsored by the UWRF chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, an international professional education association that is committed to research, service and leadership. This lecture will explore trends that show how boys are falling through the cracks at all levels of American schooling. Participants will also have a chance air their own thoughts and feelings and discuss discussing what policy-makers, educators and ordinary citizens might do to address this critical societal problem in the United States. For more information contact José Vega, president of the UWRF chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, at 715-425-3697. -30-
