Memorial Program to Honor Blanche Davis

OCT. 6, 2006--A public memorial honoring the life of the late UW-River Falls theater Professor Blanche Davis Frink will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre, Kleinpell Fine Arts Building, at UW-RF.

The commemoration will celebrate the life of Davis, 97, who passed away in her sleep April 5 at her home in California. She taught and directed plays at UW-River Falls from 1949 to1973, and founded what is today the department of speech communication and theatre arts.

The memorial program will be hosted by St. Cloud State University Professor Emeritus Ron Perrier, a UW-RF graduate and protégée of Davis. A reception following the program will be held in the Sanford Syse Theatre, also in the fine arts building.

Two memorial funds have been established in honor of Davis, the Dr. Blanche Davis Scholarship and the Davis Theatre Restoration Fund. Contributions to both may be made through the UW-River Falls Foundation.
