Fall Music Round-Up

SEPT. 29, 2006--The hills are alive with the sounds of concerts this fall presented by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls music department.

Unless otherwise noted, all concerts are free, open to the public and performed in the Abbott Concert Hall located in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building:

·Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m.--Jazz Ensemble Concert, "Symphony in Riffs." Admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students.

·Oct. 17, 7:30 p.m.--UW-River Falls Brass Ensembles, directed by Rick Gaynor.

·Oct. 19, 7:30 p.m.--Faculty Recital: 20 th Century Music for Oboe and Piano performed by UW-RF music faculty Stanley King on oboe including works by Dukas, Still, Schickele, Poulenc and Piston, with fellow performer Jeana Ogren on piano.

·Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m.--Homecoming Symphony Band & Jazz Ensemble Concert: Includes musical selections by the UW-RF Alumni Symphony Band, Symphony Band, Alumni Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble I. Admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students.

·Oct. 22, 3 p.m.--Homecoming Choral Concert: Features UW-River Falls Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, directed by J.W. Park; UW-River Falls Women's Chorus directed by Sarah Parks; UW-River Falls Men's Chorus directed by Nathan Leaf; and UW-River Falls Alumni Choir directed by Elliot Wold. Admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students.

·Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m.--River Falls Brass (UW-RF faculty brass quintet). Admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students.

·Nov. 9, 3:15 p.m.--Convocation: Student Recital and 7:30 p.m.--Senior Recital: Katie Waldo (tentative)

·Nov. 11, 7:30 p.m.--Jazz Ensemble Concert: "Universal Language III." Admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students.

·Nov. 12, 3 p.m.--UW-River Falls Concert Choir and St. Croix Valley Orchestra. Admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students.

·Nov. 16, 7:30 p.m.--Faculty Recital: Roger McVey performing piano music of Beethoven, Chopin, and American composer Emma Lou Diemer.

·Nov. 18, 3:00 p.m.--Senior Recital: Amanda Ogren, flute (tentative).

·Nov. 30, 3:15 p.m.--Convocation: Student Recital and 7:30 p.m.--Live Jazz Night
