UW-RF Sets Fall Observatory ScheduleSEPT. 22, 2006--Before phrases like "When I was your age, Pluto was a planet..." begin issuing from your mouth, make sure to be up on your astronomical knowledge. The University of Wisconsin-River Falls physics department is hosting another season of observatory viewings and public talks starting on the first clear night of Sept. 25-28. Associate Professor of physics Eileen Korenic will speak at 7:30 p.m. on issues in the science, "The Forgotten Giants-Uranus and Neptune." A telescope viewing will follow at 8 p.m. Future talks and viewings are set for the first clear night of Oct. 23-26: "The Solar System Ain't What It Used to Be - Planets Beyond Pluto?;" Nov. 13-16: "A Star by Any Other Name - Star Name Origins and Star Registeries;" and Dec. 11-14, "The Star of Bethlehem." The talks will be held in Room 271 of Centennial Science Hall. The viewings take place on the 3 rd floor outside deck of the same building; viewings typically run until 10 p.m. and please dress for the weather. All events are free, open to the public and suitable for all ages.
