Bald Eagle Welcomes Collegians Back to School

[more photos]

SEPT. 1, 2006--A mature bald eagle was perched atop one of the three towering spruce trees in the northwest corner of the Hagestad Student Center courtyard on Friday morning, as if to greet students as they flocked back to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. New and returning students were on campus for registration and advising days, and students began to move into the residence halls on Sunday, Sept. 3. Classes started Wednesday, Sept. 6, and several "Weeks of Welcome" events are planned. The start of the 2006-07 school year marks a record number of entering freshmen--1,300 students--among the 6,200 collegians heading back to school at UW-River Falls.
