Xcel Energy Funds Student Entrepreneur Conference

JUNE 23, 2006--At the Pierce County Welcome and Heritage Center in Prescott, Trudy Popenhagen (left), community services manager for Xcel Energy, gives Steve DeWald, director of the UW-River Falls Small Business Development Center, a check for $2,500 to help fund the UW-RF-Xcel Energy Entrepreneur's Conference in 2007. The first conference was held in 2005, supported by a grant from Xcel, and in 2006 an Xcel grant funded a business plan contest for students enrolled in UW System schools. Winners of the 2006 business plan contest will be announced this summer.
