Award Ceremonies Span April, May
APRIL 14, 2006--Spring marks the end of a successful academic year, and
the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is celebrating the milestones
of its students and staff with several recognition ceremonies in April
and May.
On April 24, the College of Education and Professional Studies holds its
annual awards reception starting at 6 p.m. in the Blue and River rooms
of Rodli Commons. The reception honors meritorious students and scholarship
recipients. Awards for outstanding cooperating professionals in the community
will also be announced. A reception will follow the ceremony. For more

Harvesting the Knowledge of the World is the theme for the College of
Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Awards Banquet on April 25.
Awards presented include: CAFES Outstanding Teacher, the Wisconsin Distinguished
Agriculturalist, the Rochelle Junkman Seymour Award honoring a graduating
senior with the highest GPA, and the Dr. Earl Hildebrand Memorial Award
honoring an outstanding senior. A social will begin at 5 p.m. and the
meal and program follows at 5:45 p.m. Travis Klinkner, a junior from Cashton,
Wis., majoring in agricultural education, will serve as master of ceremonies,
with entertainment by the Soggy Prairie Boys. Meal donations for the banquet
were provided by: Lakeside Food, New Richmond, Wis.; Smithfield Beef Group,
Green Bay, Wis.; Kitchen Kleen Potatoes, Rice Lake, Wis.; and the CAFES/USDA
Pig to Plate. Tickets are $12 and available in the Dean’s Office

The College of Arts and Sciences Student Reception and Ceremony is April
25 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A dessert reception in Gallery 101 of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building precedes the
7 p.m. program in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. About 115 scholarships and 290 merit awards will be awarded
at the College of Arts and Sciences Awards presentation. Honors program
members and top seniors will also be acknowledged at the ceremony. Complimentary
tickets are required for admittance and available through April 20 at
the Student Center Information Desk. For more information call 715-425-3366.
The College of Business and Economics will hold its annual student reception
on May 1 in the River and Blue rooms of Rodli Commons. A social hour is
at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program at 7 p.m. in the Blue Room. The reception
honors its 2005-06 graduates and students receiving academic merit, including
the Sigma Beta Delta award. Reservations and complimentary tickets by
April 26 are required; call 715-425-3335 or e-mail maryjo.pittman@uwrf.edu.
A reception to honor 2005 retirees and employees’ years of service
at UW-River Falls will be held on May 8 at 7 p.m. in Rodli Commons. The
ceremony recognizes years and service and retirements from the classified
staff, academic staff and faculty employee classifications. For more information,

Spring commencement is May 13, with two ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 2
p.m. in the Robert P. Knowles Physical Education and Recreation Center.
The morning ceremony presents the graduates of the colleges of agriculture,
food and environmental sciences, business and economics, and graduate
studies. The afternoon session presents the graduates of the colleges
of arts and sciences and education and professional studies. The Distinguished
Alumni award will also be announced. Graduates and their families and
friends are invited to a bunch served from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Rodli
