Harry Potter Topic of Conference
APRIL 14, 2006--Stories about the young wizard who has swept the literary
world by storm is the topic of a University of Wisconsin-River Falls English
department presentation, "Academics and Fans Unite: A Harry Potter
Conference/Convention,” on April 24 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the
Chalmer Davee Library Breezeway .
Annette Klemp, associate professor of English, will discuss author J.K.
Rowling’s phenomenal character and the imprint the series has left
on the literary world and the world of popular culture. Klemp holds a
B.A. from Wilkes College, M.A. degrees from the University of Toronto
and Oklahoma State University as well as a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State
University. Her areas of specialization include teaching English to speakers
of other languages, linguistics, language acquisition, science fiction
and fantasy fiction.
This is the final presentation of the 2005-06 English Department series
that is designed to acquaint the campus and community with some of the
writing interests of the department's faculty.
