MUSIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS JAZZ FESTIVAL

JAN. 27, 2006--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls music department will be hosting the St. Croix Valley Music Educators Association Annual Jazz Festival on Friday, Feb. 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.

Approximately 15 area school jazz ensembles, 350 high school and middle school students and area teachers will be on campus participating in the festival.

The festival clinicians will be Michael Walk, who will represent the Stillwater schools, Bill Cucholtz representing Chetek Schools, and UW-RF faculty members Kristin Tjornehoj, Tom Barnett, Rick Gaynor and David Milne.

At 1 p.m. the UW-RF Jazz Ensemble, directed by David Milne, will perform in the Abbott Concert Hall. The festival performance is free and open to the pubic.
