UW-RF RAISES MONEY FOR PAKISTAN RELIEF

JAN. 27, 2006--Faculty, staff, students and friends of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls raised $6,735 for earthquake victims in Pakistan and Kashmir, according to the UW-RF Foundation.

International humanitarian Sigurd Hanson, recipient of the University's 2004 distinguished alumni award, was on campus in November in an effort to raise money for victims of a devastating earthquake that occurred Oct. 8, 2005. Some 90,000 people were killed and 800,000 were left without shelter.

Hanson, a 1975 UW-RF graduate, is currently the country director for World Vision in Pakistan.
