Students Receive MNLA ScholarshipsJAN. 20, 2006--Three students in the horticulture program at University of Wisconsin-River Falls recently received scholarships sponsored by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA) Foundation. The scholarship recipients are Nicholas Kuehl, a junior from Kewaunee, Wis., Michaela Molter, a junior from River Falls, Wis., and Johanna Olson, a junior from Taylor, Wis. Three MNLA member firms co-sponsored the UW-RF scholarships. Buell's Landscape Center, based in Hastings, sponsored the scholarship for Olson. Bailey Nurseries, based in St. Paul, sponsored the scholarship for Kuehl. Law's Nursery, based in Hastings, sponsored the scholarship for Molter. The UW-River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences offers a major in horticulture with two options: professional horticulture or landscape design and contracting. Since 1912, the College has earned an outstanding reputation for excellence in education and service to the state, region, nation and the world. The Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association is the state's largest green industry trade association with more than 1,500 member companies. Members include nurseries, garden centers, landscape contractors, landscape designers, irrigation contractors, commercial flower growers, tree care specialists, professional gardening services, and turf and landscape management professionals. -30-
