JAZZ ENSEMBLE PERFORMS AT ORCHESTRA HALL


NOV. 11, 2005-- Jump, jive and wail into the holiday season with "The Swinging Nutracker," performed by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Jazz Ensemble (directed by David Milne) with the Minnesota Dance Theater on Nov. 30, and Dec. 1, 2, and 4 at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Orchestra (conducted by Kenneth Freed) will also perform traditional selections from Tchaikovsky's magnum opus.

"The Swinging Nutcracker" will feature excerpts from "The Nutcracker Suite," arranged by legendary jazzmen Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. The Minnesota Dance Theater and Ten Foot Five Productions will incorporate elements of traditional ballet and modern dance to complement this twist on a holiday standard.

Performances are at 10 and 11:35 a.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1-2 and Dec. 4 at 2 and 4 p.m. Ticket prices range from $35 to $19 for adults and $12 to $24 for children; for information and tickets visit www.minnesotaorchestra.org   or call its box office at 1-800-292-4141.
